Over 1,550 Xbox Disc-to-Digital Games Now Supported: Call of Duty HQ Joins in November as 3 Major Publishers Hold Out

Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 consoles for the Xbox Disc-to-Digital program

First introduced to Xbox Insiders in late August before rolling out broadly across Xbox One and Xbox Series X consoles, Microsoft's Xbox Disc-to-Digital initiative has crossed a major milestone this November 2026: more than 1,550 physical disc games can now be converted into digital entitlements tied directly to your Microsoft account at no extra cost. While the latest November wave adds the central Call of Duty HQ launcher and cements full catalog support from Ubisoft, three major Japanese publishers are still holding back all or large portions of their physical libraries.

Call of Duty HQ and Ubisoft Join In: Major Physical Franchises Eligible in November 2026

The core promise behind the Xbox Disc-to-Digital program is straightforward: insert an eligible Xbox One or Xbox Series X game disc into a console with an optical drive while signed in, and your profile receives a matching digital license. Once claimed, you can boot the game without the disc in the tray across disc-less hardware (such as the Xbox Series S or all-digital Xbox Series X), stream it via Xbox Cloud Gaming, or play it on PC if the title supports Xbox Play Anywhere.

Eight new additions have just joined the community-tracked compatibility list for November 2026, headlined by Call of Duty HQ, which now sits alongside sixteen standalone entries from the franchise already supported by the system (including Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Black Ops 7, Black Ops Cold War, Black Ops III, Black Ops 4, Advanced Warfare, and Ghosts). The latest batch also adds the Xbox Series X|S editions of Hunting Simulator 2, Monster Truck Championship, and Tour de France 2021, the Xbox One version of Rugby 22, Warrior Cats: Clans of the Forest, Sesame Street: Friends & Fun, and even the legacy Evolve Big Alpha client.

For physical collectors, however, the biggest turnaround comes from Ubisoft. Initially absent when the program debuted, the publisher has resolved its omission and unlocked its flagship physical franchises: fifteen Assassin's Creed titles (ranging from Mirage, Valhalla, Odyssey, and Origins to Shadows and Black Flag Resynced), six Far Cry entries, Star Wars Outlaws, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, and Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege now grant digital entitlements as soon as the disc is authenticated.

Publisher Breakdown: Who Supports (and Who Blocks) Xbox Disc-to-Digital?

Alongside Xbox Game Studios, Bethesda, and Activision, nearly every major Western publisher,as well as key Japanese powerhouse Capcom, has embraced the program. Below is the complete breakdown of how major publishers and flagship franchises stand across the 1,550+ supported games:

Bandai Namco, Square Enix, and Xbox 360 Discs: Where the Gaps Remain

Despite crossing 1,550 eligible titles, three notable limitations still affect physical collectors. First, Bandai Namco and Square Enix have yet to opt in with a single title, while SEGA continues to hold back a significant portion of its older catalog despite greenlighting select Persona, Sonic, and Like a Dragon releases. Second, backwards-compatible Xbox 360 and original Xbox discs remain excluded from Disc-to-Digital due to legacy licensing agreements, restricting the feature to Xbox One and Xbox Series X discs.

To check which discs on your shelf have already granted a digital token, especially if you plan to play your Play Anywhere titles through the newly redesigned Xbox App on Windows PC with 60% faster startup, press the Xbox button on your controller and navigate to My games & apps > See all > Full library > All games, where converted titles display a dedicated license badge. Keep in mind that your physical disc remains the master token: if you lend or sell the disc and another player claims it on their console, your digital entitlement is automatically transferred to the new owner.

My Take

When you have spent years building a physical shelf of Xbox One and Series X cases, seeing more than 1,550 titles carry over to your digital library for free genuinely changes how you use your hardware. Having Ubisoft and Capcom unlock entire flagship series like Assassin's Creed and Resident Evil removes a massive barrier when switching between a living room console and a disc-less secondary setup. That said, the complete holdout from Bandai Namco and Square Enix still leaves an awkward two-tier library, and hopefully player momentum will convince those last Japanese holdouts that physical buyers deserve the exact same modern flexibility.
