Kuro Games is gearing up for the final narrative chapter of its open-world action RPG ahead of the milestone 4.0 cycle. On November 6, 2026, the developer officially announced that Wuthering Waves Version 3.8, titled "Lilies in a Dying Dream," will launch globally on November 12, 2026 across PS5, PS5 Pro, Xbox Series X|S, PC (standalone client, Steam, Epic Games Store, Microsoft Store), iOS, and Android. Alongside a new main story quest and the debut of 5-star Resonator Lily, the update delivers 4K PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) support on PS5 Pro and major quality-of-life upgrades.

Chapter IV Act V "A Bouquet for Tomorrow," 5-Star Resonator Lily, and 3.8 Banners

Version 3.8 continues the overarching story with Chapter IV Act V: "A Bouquet for Tomorrow," taking Rover into the mysterious Train of Souls area as a direct narrative bridge toward Version 4.0. The scale of the update reflects a broader industry shift where open-world gacha RPGs continue to gain ground on PC and consoles.

Leading the character banners is Lily, a new 5-star Spectro Resonator from the New Federation who wields dual Pistols. Built as a versatile healer and team buffer focused on All DMG Amplification, ATK boosts, and Echo Skill synergy, Lily arrives alongside her signature 5-star Pistol, Lullaby. Players will also be able to pick up Hiyuki's new Deluxe Outfit, "Lune Noire," and her "Flaming Sakura" accessory.

PS5 Pro PSSR 4K Upscaling, PC Storage Cleanup, and Blitz Mode

In addition to six limited-time events (including the Dreamfield Odyssey combat event, Second Coming of Solaris: Unwritten Dreams, Lahai-Roi Blocks: Turnabout, and the 7-day login event Gifts of Bygone Dreams), Version 3.8 rolls out several technical and quality-of-life improvements:

  • PS5 Pro PSSR 4K Support: Console players on Sony's upgraded hardware can now enable PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) on PS5 Pro to upscale image resolution up to 4K for noticeably sharper visuals. Supported consoles also gain a Performance vs. Quality toggle under Graphics Quality settings (currently unavailable on base PS5 and Xbox Series S).
  • PC Launcher Storage Management: PC players can now choose between Full Resources and Basic Resources directly in the PC Launcher, paired with an upgraded Resource Cleanup tool to free up SSD space (rolling out gradually in a limited test).
  • Rover Auto-Echo Switching & Blitz Mode: Rover's Resonance Conversion menu has been redesigned and now automatically swaps to the pre-equipped Echo set matching each Resonance Attribute. Meanwhile, the new Blitz Mode lets players restart material collection challenges immediately from the reward screen without reloading, and a new Material Locator button in the Guidebook teleports players directly to unlocked farming nodes.

My Perspective

When a live-service RPG nears its 4.0 expansion, the biggest threat to player retention isn't story pacing: it's daily farming fatigue and bloated storage footprints. By introducing zero-reload Blitz Mode for material domains, automatic Echo set swapping whenever Rover changes elements, and a Basic Resources option on PC all in the same patch, Kuro Games is tackling three of the community's biggest pain points head-on. Add native PSSR 4K upscaling on PS5 Pro to clean up image quality during particle-heavy fights, and Version 3.8 shapes up as one of the smartest technical updates the game has received all year.
