World of Warcraft: Forever Wraps Up Its Chaotic Beta With a Full Wipe as Early Name Reservations Open Tomorrow Ahead of November 4

World of Warcraft Forever

Five weeks of intensive playtesting across Azeroth have officially come to an explosive end. After a surprise 48-hour extension granted by Blizzard, the World of Warcraft: Forever closed beta shut down for good on Friday, October 23, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. PDT.

All eyes now shift to a critical milestone arriving tomorrow, Tuesday, October 27, 2026. With the worldwide launch locked in for November 4, Blizzard is opening the early character name reservation window while wiping all beta test servers clean.

Falling Infernals, Super Hogger, and Legendary Loot: Inside the 24-Hour "Shenanigans" Finale

Instead of quietly pulling the plug on the original October 21 deadline, the development team kept the test realms live for two extra days. As Community Manager Kaivax announced on the official Blizzard forums, the final 24 hours turned into a server-wide send-off billed as "shenanigans and upheaval."

Throughout the last day before Friday's shutdown, standard progression rules went out the window across seven major hubs. Elwynn Forest, Durotar, Dun Morogh, Teldrassil, Tirisfal Glades, Mulgore, and the brand-new starting zone of Zephras Isle became the stage for developer-triggered chaos.

WoW Forever Beta
After five weeks of testing and a wild 24-hour finale across starting zones, the World of Warcraft: Forever beta closed on October 23.

High-level infernals rained down from the sky onto level 1 starting villages while ordinary creatures began dropping Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 raid sets from Molten Core, Blackwing Lair, and Naxxramas. In Elwynn Forest, a gigantic Super Hogger served as an impromptu raid boss, rewarding groups with iconic legendary weapons including Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker and Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros.

As the countdown ticked closer to zero, world bosses and raid icons such as Azuregos, Lord Kazzak, Nefarian, Chromaggus, and Patchwerk stormed the low-level zones. The final hour culminated with the Lich King himself invading the starting areas alongside a lethal fog of war that eventually swallowed the main capitals right as the servers went dark.

Full Beta Wipe Confirmed: Everyone Starts Fresh at Level 1 on November 4

Blizzard made it clear from the start of the celebration that none of the absurd loot, legacy points, or characters from the test realms will carry over. A complete character wipe ensures a level playing field for every adventurer when the live realms open worldwide on Wednesday, November 4, 2026.

Whether you spent the past month testing the reworked dungeons or dialing in your client with our World of Warcraft: Forever graphic settings and hidden CVars guide, everyone will step back into Azeroth at level 1. In a closing message to testers, Kaivax noted that the team is now dedicating the final days before launch to priority bug fixes and live service stability.

Early Name Reservations Open October 27: Start Times, 3-Name Cap, and Eligibility

Before the gates open on November 4, the first real race begins tomorrow on the character creation screen. According to Blizzard's official schedule, the Early Name Reservation window runs from Tuesday, October 27 through Tuesday, November 3, 2026.

Reservations go live simultaneously tomorrow, October 27 at 1:00 p.m. PDT (4:00 p.m. EDT / 18:00 CET) in North America and Europe, followed by Korea and Taiwan on October 28 at 07:00 KST/CST. During this window, eligible players can create and lock in up to 3 characters total across all available realm rulesets.

Official Worldwide LaunchWednesday, November 4, 2026All players start fresh at level 1 across live World of Warcraft: Forever realms.

Be mindful of how you spend those three slots: the three-character cap is shared across your entire Battle.net account during the reservation period. If you lock in two names on a PvP ruleset realm, you will only have one remaining slot to use on a Normal or Role-Play ruleset realm until launch day.

WoW Forever Skyborne
Pre-purchasing a Skyborne Pack or the Warcraft Forever Collection is required to access Early Name Reservations on October 27.

One crucial requirement catches many players off guard: a standalone World of Warcraft subscription or Game Time alone does not grant access to Early Name Reservations. To claim your three names tomorrow (and unlock the new playable Skyborne race on Zephras Isle), your Battle.net account must hold the Skyborne Heroic Pack, the Skyborne Epic Pack, the limited-time Warcraft Forever Collection, or the physical Collector's Edition.

To make sure you are ready the second the Play button lights up tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. PDT, open your Battle.net desktop app today, select World of Warcraft: Forever from the Game Version menu, and complete the installation ahead of time. Because names are awarded on a strict first-come, first-served basis, a last-minute patch download could easily cost you your main moniker in an era where Blizzard is already teasing future journeys to Northrend and Pandaria.

My Take: Locking Down Three Shared Names Is the Real First Boss of WoW Forever

Anyone who lived through the original WoW Classic name reservation stampede back in August 2019 knows how ruthless tomorrow afternoon is going to be. In a Classic-style MMORPG where realm identity and guild reputation follow you for years, securing your clean, original handle without resorting to awkward alt-codes is everything.

Dropping Super Hogger and raining Thunderfury blades across Elwynn Forest was a brilliant throwback to old-school 2000s beta send-offs, proving the devs understand the community spirit behind this project. Tying early name reservation to the Skyborne packs and Collector's bundles is an undeniably shrewd business move by Blizzard, and for veterans determined to protect their identity, the real launch race starts tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. PDT.
