One Week After Bloodborne: God of War 3 Remastered Hits PC at 4K 240 FPS via Native Port

Kratos in God of War 3 Remastered on PC

While Sony continues to keep its classic catalogue locked on console and prepares God of War Laufey for PlayStation 5 without any PC release in sight, the open source community has delivered another technical masterstroke.

Just one week after the breakthrough on Bloodborne, God of War III Remastered has officially landed on PC in a build that is fully playable from start to finish.

Developed by programmer Felipe Prado, this achievement does not rely on traditional, resource-heavy emulation.

Direct x86-64 Execution: Why This Is Not an Emulator

For over a decade, running God of War III on PC required emulating the notoriously complex Cell broadband engine of the PlayStation 3, demanding massive CPU power just to reach playable framerates.

Felipe Prado bypassed this obstacle entirely by targeting the Remastered edition released on PlayStation 4.

Because the PS4 shares the exact same x86-64 architecture as modern desktop computers, the original game binary executes directly on your PC processor without any instruction translation.

A custom-built runtime layer replaces the console system libraries, intercepting and answering all operating system calls.

Graphic commands are translated directly into the Vulkan API using a dedicated video backend derived from the open source shadPS4 initiative.

4K Resolution, 240 FPS and AMD FSR Support

The visual output on modern PC hardware goes far beyond what the PlayStation 4 delivered at launch.

The wrapper natively supports multiple display resolutions from 720p up to full 4K, alongside unlocked framerates capable of delivering 120 FPS and even 240 FPS on high-refresh monitors.

To help mid-range graphics cards maintain steady performance, the project includes AMD FSR 1 upscaling and RCAS sharpening filters.

A custom in-game menu gives players quick control over windowed, borderless, and fullscreen modes, vertical sync toggles, and live telemetry overlays.

Optional gameplay modifiers are also included, such as enemy health bars and practice cheats for infinite health or Spartan Rage.

Controller Support and Access Requirements

The port features full out-of-the-box support for keyboard and mouse as well as Xbox controllers and PlayStation DualSense gamepads with active rumble feedback.

In keeping with strict emulation legal boundaries, the open source repository known as gow3_pc contains zero copyrighted game assets or code.

Players must supply their own legitimate dump of God of War III Remastered from a PS4 console running update 01.02.

This technical philosophy mirrors the latest advances where developers run PlayStation games natively on PC without emulation by leveraging shared processor architecture.

Trailer video

While minor texture quirks can still occur at resolutions above 1080p, the game can be completed in its entirety with zero fatal crashes.

It is a remarkable technical lesson, proving once again that the PC community will preserve and elevate gaming history with or without official publisher support.
