500 Vintage Treasures and Zero Haggling: Spellgarden Games Brings Thrift Store Manager Thrifty Business to Nintendo Switch

Thrifty Business Nintendo Switch announcement vintage thrift shop Spellgarden Games

After winning over cozy simulation fans on PC earlier this year with boxes full of nostalgic second-hand treasures, Spellgarden Games is officially bringing its vintage storefront to Nintendo's hybrid console. The German indie studio, widely known for its relaxing sticker shop hit Sticky Business and the witchy farming adventure Ritual of Raven, has announced that Thrifty Business is coming to Nintendo Switch alongside a brand-new announcement trailer.

A 90s-Inspired Thrift Store Packed With Over 500 Pre-Loved Gems

In Thrifty Business, players step in as the manager of a newly opened neighborhood thrift shop steeped in colorful 1990s aesthetics. The core gameplay loop revolves around unpacking donation boxes and curating eye-catching displays across your shelves and clothing racks. Across the game, there are more than 500 distinct items to uncover, ranging from retro apparel and classic toys to antique tableware, vinyl records, and quirky knick-knacks.

Thanks to a freeform precision placement system, you can arrange your inventory by color gradient, theme, size, or purpose down to the finest detail. Keeping your aisles tidy and thoughtfully organized rewards you with Community Points. This local reputation currency unlocks fresh furniture, decorations, wallpaper, and flooring, while flourishing sales eventually allow you to expand your shop floor into adjacent rooms.

No Price Haggling, No Angry Shoppers, and a Local Third Space

Where traditional retail management games often rely on tight profit margins or stressful checkout queues, Spellgarden Games has built its design around pure relaxation. The developer explicitly strips out three common genre pressure points: there is no stressful financial min-maxing, no manual price setting or haggling, and zero impatient customers storming out of your store in anger.

Instead, your storefront is designed to grow into a welcoming third space for the neighborhood. Throughout your shifts, a quirky cast of regulars will drop by to share personal stories and ask for specific items they hope to track down. As your shop evolves, you can also unlock and host dedicated hobbyist events, turning a simple second-hand boutique into a lively community hub.

Multiplatform Release Timeline and Pricing

Originally released on May 18, 2026 for PC and Mac via its official Steam page for $12.99, Thrifty Business is also scheduled to launch on iOS and Android devices on November 10, 2026. Much like other indie releases bridging portable mobile play and console handhelds this month, such as the $12.99 arcade shooter Gunboat God launching on Nintendo Switch and mobile, Spellgarden Games is making sure handheld players have plenty of ways to play. An exact Nintendo eShop release date for the Switch version will be shared at a later date.

My Perspective

I will gladly admit that I already sank an unreasonable number of evenings into printing glitter stickers and packing orders in Sticky Business on my handheld. Spellgarden Games has a rare gift for turning everyday sorting into pure, tactile comfort food. Being able to unpack 500 pieces of 90s nostalgia and color-code vintage jackets on a shelf without an angry customer timer ticking down over my head sounds like the ultimate late-night wind-down game for the Switch. As soon as an exact eShop date drops, consider my shop doors officially open.
