WoW Forever Beta Unlocks Level 30 Cap: Built-In WeakAuras, Major Class Buffs and Nerfs

The latest World of Warcraft: Forever beta update signals a major shift in Blizzard's design philosophy. Detailed by Community Manager Kaivax on the official forums, this September 24 patch proves the development team is actively addressing core quality of life systems and long-term class balance.
Far from a simple round of number tweaks, this build unlocks the level 30 testing bracket, introduces native UI enhancements, and reshapes class dynamics across the board.
Level 30 cap officially unlocked on the beta realms
The most anticipated milestone of this testing cycle is finally live. Blizzard has officially unlocked progression from level 20 to level 30 on the public beta servers.
This level 30 cap represents the final testing threshold before the beta officially concludes on October 21, paving the way for the global release on November 4, 2026. Players can now allocate 10 additional talent points, granting access to pivotal 30-point capstone abilities.
Mid-game exploration expands with contested zones like Wetlands, Hillsbrad Foothills, Ashenvale, and Redridge Mountains. Dungeons including Gnomeregan, Razorfen Kraul, and the Scarlet Monastery Graveyard are now accessible, while Druids can finally acquire their iconic Travel Form.
A native Cooldown Manager inspired by legendary community addons
The standout technical feature in this update is the arrival of a built-in cooldown tracker. Disabled by default, this tool can be enabled under the Gameplay Enhancement section of the game options.
The feature pulls critical ability timers and procs away from standard action bars, placing them directly in customizable screen positions without requiring WeakAuras or OmniCC. Blizzard is initially testing this system across five classes: Druid, Mage, Priest, Warrior, and Warlock.
While individual spell ranks are not yet supported, the design direction is clear. Blizzard aims to modernize the classic user experience while preserving the game's authentic pace and tactical feel.
Class balance breakdown: biggest winners and hardest nerfs
To encourage thorough playtesting, Blizzard temporarily reduced the talent respec cost to 1 silver on the beta realms. This change allows players to explore the extensive talent revisions detailed in our WoW Forever classes and gameplay overview.
🟢 The biggest class buffs: Druids ascend and Paladins smoothed out
Druids emerge as the uncontested champions of this update. Base damage on Wrath has been increased by approximately 50%, while Thorns now scales dynamically with spell power.
More importantly, Blizzard introduced a historic mechanical breakthrough for healers. Periodic heals including Rejuvenation, Tranquility, and Wild Growth can now score critical hits. Additionally, Feral's Mangle has been renamed Primal Bite with its old physical vulnerability debuff removed.
Paladins gain crucial quality of life during leveling. Holy Strike is now baseline with its cooldown reduced from 12 to 10 seconds, scaling from 25% to 50% weapon damage as you level up. Retribution Aura gains spell power scaling for AoE farming, while Righteous Fury threat generation has been normalized to 60%.
Mages benefit from smoother spellcasting, as Arcane Missiles now only checks line of sight at the start of the channel. The duration of Wake of Fire (30 seconds) and Hot Streak (20 seconds) has also been extended to prevent losing procs between mana drinks.
For Priests, Renew can now crit as well, and Power Word: Shield can overwrite existing shields if Weakened Soul is not present. Meanwhile, Warriors enjoy a doubled 20% proc chance on Bloodthrill main-hand attacks.
🔴 The hardest class nerfs: Shaman stacking halted and Hunter scaled back
Conversely, Shamans received the harshest tuning pass of the build. Blizzard moved decisively to eliminate totem aura stacking abuses that trivialized dungeon content.
Flametongue Totem no longer stacks with itself, Flametongue Weapon, or Windfury Totem. Furthermore, Windfury Totem, Grace of Air Totem, and Tranquil Air Totem no longer stack when deployed by multiple Shamans in the same group. Elemental's Farsight Rage talent also loses its cast haste bonus.
Hunters face a sharp utility downgrade, as the Wolf pet's Furious Howl ability suffers a heavy 40% reduction to bonus attack power granted to the party. Taming beasts higher level than the character is also no longer permitted.
Retribution Paladins see Two-Handed Weapon Specialization damage reduced from 9% to 6% maximum, with Vengeance capped at 3 stacks instead of 5. Fire Mages also lose their Ignite double-dipping on percentage damage modifiers.
Full Gamepad UI alpha and campfire convenience
Ergonomics on handheld hardware take a leap forward through the Gamepad UI Alpha. Flyout menus neatly organize Druid shapeshifts, Paladin auras, Warrior stances, and pet commands.
Fixed party targeting via the D-pad makes friendly healing far more responsive on devices like the Steam Deck. Meanwhile, the Gnome racial ability Eureka grants a universal 10% cost reduction across Mana, Rage, and Energy.
Campfires have also been streamlined. Adventurers can now craft, cast spells, and apply buffs while resting by the fire, complementing our recommended WoW Forever graphical settings and utility commands.
