GTA 6's $975,000 Billboard Is Finally in Place: Viral Night Video Blows Up on Reddit

Rockstar Games' ambitious real-world marketing stunt has officially taken over the downtown Miami skyline. Following earlier reports of the campaign, the massive rooftop billboard atop the Kaseya Center is finally in place and fully illuminated for Grand Theft Auto VI.
Clearly visible to airline passengers descending into Miami International Airport, the massive 4,700-square-foot installation spells out “Welcome to Vice City” in glowing neon pink lettering alongside the signature Roman numeral VI.
The $975,000 billboard is now 100% operational
As detailed in our previous report on the $975,000 agreement to rebrand the NBA arena, Rockstar Games made a massive investment with Miami-Dade County. The sum was strategically placed just below the $1 million threshold, allowing the deal to proceed with mayoral approval without triggering a prolonged commission vote.
Revenue generated from the deal directly funds public infrastructure, including a community park behind the stadium complex. Airlifted onto the roof in late September by heavy-lift helicopters, the illuminated sign will remain in place through the conclusion of the 2026-2027 Miami Heat NBA regular season in April 2027.
Viral night footage takes the Reddit community by storm
As soon as dusk fell and the rooftop neon flickered to life, local residents and gaming enthusiasts rushed to capture aerial perspectives. Shared by user Ground_Breaker49 on Reddit, nighttime footage filmed from nearby skyscrapers captures the illuminated neon sign shining across the Miami skyline:

The community found particular amusement in the game's self-referential geography. In Rockstar's fictionalized rendition of Florida, the Kaseya Center already appears prominently in the debut trailer under the name of the Sahara Arena.
“A win for gamers”: commissioner defends Vice City billboard
Placing Grand Theft Auto VI on top of a major public landmark was not without initial pushback. Conservative officials initially questioned the partnership, arguing that the franchise's gritty underworld themes conflicted with the city's public image.
Miami-Dade Commissioner Monica Matteo-Salinas stepped forward to defend the initiative. A self-professed gamer who grew up playing the series, she firmly pushed back against moral panic, emphasizing that interactive entertainment does not dictate real-world actions.
“This is a win for gamers and gaming nerds such as myself,” Commissioner Matteo-Salinas declared during civic discussions. Interestingly, Rockstar had also pitched temporarily rebranding Miami International Airport as Vice City Airport, a bold proposal ultimately declined due to federal aviation sensitivities.
With the glowing billboard now firmly in place, the line between Leonida and actual Florida has never felt thinner, perfectly complementing our coverage of the upcoming fall video game releases.
