Steerable Ships and Deep Sea Diving: Crimson Desert's Charting the Unknown Expansion Pushed to October 29

Pearl Abyss has officially confirmed a two-week delay for the very first major expansion of Crimson Desert, titled Charting the Unknown.
Originally scheduled to launch on October 15, 2026, the ambitious seafaring expansion will now release on October 29, 2026, across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
Two Weeks of Polish to Tame Pywel's Oceans
In a direct statement shared with its community, the studio explained that additional time is required to balance gameplay mechanics and ensure rock-solid technical performance across all platforms.
Given the heavy demands of Pearl Abyss's proprietary BlackSpace Engine, granting the development team two extra weeks of optimization is a sensible move to prevent severe launch hiccups.
Priced at $24.99, the expansion aims to deliver much more than standard side quests for Kliff and his mercenary band.
Steerable Warships, Deep Diving, and Camp Management
Charting the Unknown takes players far beyond the known shores of Pywel by introducing full open-sea naval exploration.
Mercenaries will command customizable ships, navigate uncharted archipelagos, and dive underwater to salvage sunken ruins.
The expansion also overhauls base building mechanics and deepens companion relations, giving tactical depth to encampments between maritime battles.

A Congested Late-October Bottleneck
By moving to October 29, Pearl Abyss places its expansion straight into a crowded release bottleneck.
The new date lands on the exact same day as Pokémon Legends: Z-A Mega Dimension and The Wolf Among Us Remastered, putting pressure on the already packed October 2026 video game releases.
Whether sprawling naval battles and deep-sea exploration can stand out amid Halloween week remains to be seen, but two extra weeks of technical polish are well worth the wait.
