From October 20 to November 6: The Full Modern Warfare 4 Roadmap Through Season 1 and Warzone's Last-Gen Shutdown

With Campaign Early Access already underway since October 16, Activision and Infinity Ward have locked in the full rollout schedule taking Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 through the launch of Season 1, officially set for November 6, 2026. Between an early deployment window for the revamped DMZ extraction mode, the rapid arrival of Shipment four days after the global launch, and the permanent shutdown of Warzone on last-generation consoles, the two-week pre-season window is packed with major milestones.

From October 20 to November 6: The Four Key Rollout Dates
Rather than dropping every mode on the same day, Activision has staggered the Modern Warfare 4 launch across four distinct phases, giving squads roughly two weeks to level up their loadouts before the first seasonal progression reset:
- October 20, 2026 (DMZ Early Access): Three days ahead of the global launch, digital pre-order owners get early access to the overhauled DMZ extraction mode and its evolutive Forward Operating Base to start building out their permanent stash and weapon unlocks.
- October 23, 2026 (Global Launch and Core Multiplayer): The full game goes live worldwide on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. Core multiplayer launches with 12 brand-new 6v6 maps (Cachette, Coal, Lithium, Lotus, Mumbai, Munition, Nautical, Reactor U92, Rooftops, Sentry, Silkworm, and Transit 213), alongside the modular Kill Block arena for 3v3 and 10v10 Gunfight variants, where three interchangeable slabs shift between rounds to create over 500 layout combinations inspired by classics like Crash and Killhouse.
- October 27, 2026 (Shipment Drops in Pre-Season): Just four days after launch, the chaotic close-quarters staple Shipment joins the 6v6 rotation, offering an ideal proving ground to max out weapon levels and mastery camos ahead of Season 1.
- November 6, 2026 (Season 1 Launch and Warzone Integration): Exactly two weeks after release day, Season 1 kicks off with the first Battle Pass, new seasonal weapons, and full Battle Royale integration.
Season 1 Battle Pass, BlackCell Rewards, and Expected Content
The November 6, 2026 update introduces the inaugural Modern Warfare 4 Battle Pass, featuring over 100 rewards distributed across a multi-sector map. Following the franchise's established seasonal model, the new base weapons arriving in Season 1 (including fresh assault rifles, SMGs, and aftermarket parts) will be unlockable for free through standard Battle Pass sectors, alongside new operator skins and weapon blueprints.
Players who purchased the Vault Edition will have their included Season 1 BlackCell bundle activated automatically on November 6. This premium tier grants an exclusive BlackCell Operator, animated BlackCell variant skins for seasonal operators, 1,100 COD Points, and 20 Battle Pass Tier Skips (25 on PlayStation). Leading up to Season 1, Vault Edition owners can deploy on day one with the Hostile Alliance Operator Pack (masked and unmasked variants for Captain Price and Valeria, plus Ghost and Blix), the Special Forces Operator Pack (featuring UK SAS, German KSK, French, and South Korean tier-one operators with localized voice lines), and five Signature Weapon Blueprints.
On the Battle Royale side, the November 6 update merges Modern Warfare 4's weapons, operators, and movement mechanics into Warzone, headlined by the massive Hajin Battle Royale map, the Zodiac Resurgence island, and the return of default Tactical Sprint.
Warzone Officially Ends PS4 and Xbox One Support on November 6
Beyond new maps and weapons, Season 1 marks the end of a six-year hardware era. While Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 already skips eighth-generation consoles entirely, the November 6, 2026 seasonal update will officially shut down Call of Duty: Warzone on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
After Activision removed new Warzone downloads and closed in-game storefronts on PS4 and Xbox One back in June, the Season 1 transition onto Modern Warfare 4's unified engine completes the phase-out. Starting November 6, playing Warzone will require a PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, or PC. Activision has confirmed that all account progression, unlocked gear, purchased bundles, and COD Points balances carry over seamlessly to current-gen hardware through your linked Activision account.
My Take: Eleven Days to Level Your Loadouts Before the November 6 Cutover
Giving players a full ten-day window on Shipment starting October 27 before Warzone integrates on November 6 is the smartest scheduling decision Infinity Ward could have made. Nobody wants to drop into Hajin or Zodiac on day one of Season 1 stuck with iron sights and base attachments while Vault Edition squads are already running fully kitted meta builds. As for finally cutting the cord on PS4 and Xbox One with Season 1, it was a long-overdue technical necessity if Warzone is going to support dynamic weather and dense foliage on Hajin without holding back current-gen performance.
