Duck Side of the Moon Launches on PS5 November 17 Alongside Free Homegrown Update

Doug the duck exploring a colorful planet in Duck Side of the Moon on PS5

Launching a relaxing space adventure starring a waddling astronaut duck just forty-eight hours before the biggest blockbuster tidal wave in gaming history takes either supreme confidence or cosmic-level serenity. Independent Dutch studio Starbrew Games has officially announced that its cozy open-world crafting and exploration adventure Duck Side of the Moon will land on PlayStation 5 on November 17, 2026. Even better, the PS5 debut will launch alongside a major, completely free content update titled "Homegrown" across all platforms.

A Wholesome Intergalactic Escape Following Its PC and Switch Debut

Originally released on May 7, 2026 for Nintendo Switch and PC (via Steam and the Epic Games Store) at a budget-friendly $19.99 price point, Duck Side of the Moon quickly won over fans of laid-back exploration games. Players step into the webbed feet of Doug, a curious duck drifting through a whimsical galaxy after crash-landing his spaceship. Rather than punishing survival timers or stressful combat encounters, the journey revolves around exploring miniature colorful planets at a gentle pace, mining rare materials, crafting helpful gadgets, and gradually transforming Doug's battered vessel back into a warm, welcoming home.

Along the way, players befriend unusual planetary locals, including a cast of surprisingly chatty talking rocks, while solving wholesome quests and uncovering a heartfelt story about the value of rest. The game also leans fully into its playful premise by letting players dress Doug in silly outfits and hats, complete with a dedicated quack button on the controller. It offers a soothing counterbalance to the high-octane multiplayer releases hitting Sony's hardware this month, such as the 32-player destructible battlefields of Forefront on PS5 and PS VR2.

Free "Homegrown" Update: Space Gardening, Chromas, and New Quests

To celebrate the PlayStation 5 launch on November 17, Starbrew Games is rolling out the free "Homegrown" update simultaneously across PS5, Nintendo Switch, and PC. As Starbrew Games designer and composer Joost Rol noted in the studio's official announcement, the team has been eager to expand their cozy universe since May, giving players more activities and deeper ways to personalize Doug's ship, because life among the stars is significantly less stressful with a garden on board.

Spaceship crafting and planetary exploration in Duck Side of the Moon
Doug explores vibrant miniature planets to gather resources and turn his crashed spaceship into a personalized cosmic home.

The new "Homegrown" content unlocks roughly halfway through the main story. Returning PC and Switch players who have already completed Duck Side of the Moon can simply load their existing save file to jump straight into the new features:

  • Space Gardening: Plant seeds, tend to your plots, and harvest your own homegrown crops right among the stars.
  • Deep Spaceship Customization: Collect new chromas across the galaxy to customize every individual piece of furniture and interior wall inside Doug's spacecraft to match your exact style.
  • New Cosmic Adventures: Explore newly added areas featuring fresh characters to meet and wholesome quests to complete.

Release Date, Platforms, and Pricing

Duck Side of the Moon launches for PlayStation 5 on November 17, 2026 alongside the free "Homegrown" update for PS5, Nintendo Switch, and PC (Steam and Epic Games Store). My Perspective

You have to admire the sheer nerve,or adorable fearlessness,it takes to schedule a PlayStation 5 launch for November 17, 2026, literally forty-eight hours before the GTA 6 hurricane swallows the entire gaming industry whole! Honestly, though, I love Starbrew Games for offering this kind of counter-programming. Not everyone wants high-stakes Vice City heists twenty-four hours a day. Having a twenty-dollar sanctuary where I can mash a dedicated quack button in space, chat with philosophical boulders, repaint my spaceship walls, and tend to a zero-gravity vegetable patch in the free Homegrown update sounds like the ultimate palate cleanser between massive November blockbusters.
