CRYMELIGHT Launches at $19.99 on Nintendo Switch 2 as Valve's Review Queue Delays the Steam Release

The gothic prison of Wonderland has officially opened its gates to hybrid console players. Developed by Winning Entertainment Group and published by FuRyu Corporation, the dark action-roguelike CRYMELIGHT is available today on the Nintendo Switch 2 eShop and PlayStation 5 as part of its November 5, 2026 global rollout (going live on the evening of November 4 across Western time zones). While console owners can jump straight into this post-mortem reimagining of Lewis Carroll's classic for an accessible $19.99, PC players are facing a frustrating last-minute hurdle: the full release on the official CRYMELIGHT Steam page has been delayed indefinitely due to extended pre-release review queues at Valve.

Out Now on Nintendo Switch 2 for $19.99 Across Digital and Physical Formats

Following a strong pre-release campaign that crossed 80,000 wishlists and introduced the CRYMELIGHT playable demo on Nintendo Switch 2 two weeks ago, the spiritual successor to Crystar and CRYMACHINA has arrived in full on consoles. Helmed by producer and director Takumi Isobe alongside scenario writer Naoki Hisaya (Kanon, Crystar), character illustrator YOGISYA, and electronic composer Sakuzyo, the story follows an amnesiac girl named Alice (voiced in Japanese by Sayaka Senbongi).

Guided by the enigmatic White Rabbit (Yu Sasahara) and accompanied by Mary (Hitomi Sekine), Alice wakes up inside a penitentiary afterlife where condemned souls such as Cheshire, Mad, and March must battle through distorted realms and overthrow the Queen of Hearts to earn their resurrection. On Nintendo Switch 2, the Standard Edition is priced at $19.99 on the eShop (with a 10% early launch discount bringing it down to $17.99), alongside physical import packages utilizing the Game-Key Card format and a collector's Tea Party Box Edition bundling a physical artbook, soundtrack CD, and custom playing cards.

Why Valve's Pre-Release Review Queue Delayed the PC Launch

Although a simultaneous multiplatform debut was planned on the November 2026 video game release calendar, producer Takumi Isobe issued a personal apology at midnight JST on November 5 explaining why the Steam build could not unlock on schedule. According to FuRyu, the development team submitted CRYMELIGHT for Steam's pre-release review process roughly one month ahead of launch and worked continuously to address every technical check raised during inspection.

However, due to a sharp seasonal surge in submission volume reported across Steamworks, final build approval was still pending when the launch window arrived. Unable to confirm an exact release hour for PC, FuRyu has extended the availability of the free Steam demo, originally slated to be taken down at launch, until the full PC version clears inspection. To protect waiting PC players from story spoilers, the publisher has also asked Nintendo Switch 2 and PS5 content creators to follow its official streaming guidelines and avoid broadcasting story segments past the boss fight against Dum during this interim period.

Repentance System, $39.99 Digital Deluxe Content, and Indie Collaborations

Stepping beyond the opening chapter featured in the demo, the full release on Nintendo Switch 2 unlocks the complete roguelike progression loop and bonus editions:

  • The Repentance System and Tea Parties: Upon returning to the base camp after a run or defeat, Alice confesses the sins harvested from defeated souls to convert her tears of penitence into permanent weapon and accessory upgrades, while unlocking intimate Tea Party conversations that reveal the tragic pasts of her fellow inmates.
  • Poker System and CRYMERIDE Grappling: Across branching node maps, players collect over 100 distinct Crime Cards and arrange five-card poker hands (such as a Straight, Flush, or Full House) to amplify active skill levels, while using the charged CRYMERIDE grapple to drag enemies across the floor and hurl them through the Wonder Dimension buff zone.
  • $39.99 Digital Deluxe Edition: Alongside the $19.99 base game, the Digital Deluxe package bundles six exclusive in-game equipment pieces (including the Aquamarine Emotions and E.V.E weapons, the Afternoon Tea item set, and sin accessories for Cheshire, Mad, and March), the 80-page Partygoers' Memoirs digital artbook, a 30-track soundtrack, and three Japanese voice drama episodes.
  • Launch Indie Collaborations: FuRyu has also unveiled crossover illustrations and upcoming in-game collaboration content partnering CRYMELIGHT with Team Tapas's Garden of Witches and Magical Princess.

My Perspective

Having followed FuRyu's melancholic action catalog since Crystar and CRYMACHINA, I find it almost poetic that a game about souls trapped in bureaucratic purgatory is temporarily held back on PC by Valve's review queue while thriving on Nintendo Switch 2. Seeing a studio submit its build a full month early and still hit a verification bottleneck shows just how congested November release queues have become on Steam. For Nintendo Switch 2 owners, however, this $19.99 release is an easy recommendation: assembling poker hands mid-run while Sakuzyo's gothic electronic score pulses in the background gives the combat a tactical urgency that feels great both in handheld mode and docked on a TV.
