Poker Skill Hands, Sins to Confess, and Gothic Alice: Action Roguelike CRYMELIGHT Drops Free Nintendo Switch 2 Demo

With just two weeks remaining before its global launch, Japanese publisher FuRyu and developer Winning Entertainment Group are ramping up the spotlight on CRYMELIGHT. Starting today, a free playable demo for the gothic action roguelike is available to download on the Nintendo Switch 2 eShop and the PlayStation 5 PlayStation Store, joining the trial version already live on PC via Steam. To mark the console demo rollout and celebrate surpassing 80,000 Steam wishlists, FuRyu has also premiered a brand-new gameplay showcase titled 2nd Trailer < Feature Battle >.
A Post-Mortem Twist on Alice in Wonderland from Crystar Alumni
Carrying the thematic torch of FuRyu's melancholic action titles Crystar and CRYMACHINA, CRYMELIGHT reimagines Lewis Carroll's classic tale as an afterlife prison where the souls of the dead are locked away. Greeted by the cold declaration "You are all sinners," an amnesiac girl is given the name Alice (voiced in Japanese by Sayaka Senbongi) by her mysterious guide, the White Rabbit (Yu Sasahara).
Led to a surreal tea party, Alice learns the sole rule governing this purgatorial Wonderland: only those who manage to defeat the Queen of Hearts are granted their freedom and allowed to return to their world. Alice joins forces with a girl named Mary (Hitomi Sekine) and crosses paths with fellow sinners weighed down by painful regrets, including Cheshire (Yukina Shuto), Mad (Nao Ojika), and March (Yurina Amami). Producer and director Takumi Isobe has assembled a notable creative roster for the project: scenario supervision is handled by Naoki Hisaya (Kanon, Crystar), character designs are crafted by illustrator YOGISYA, and the soundtrack is composed by Sakuzyo.
Wonder Dimension, CRYMERIDE, and the Poker System in the Switch 2 Demo
Arriving hot on the heels of the Monster Hunter Wilds free demo on Nintendo Switch 2, the CRYMELIGHT trial lets console players experience the opening stretch of the story through the end of Chapter 1 and test its fast-paced combat loop firsthand. Players should note that save data from the demo does not carry over to the full release.
The newly released Feature Battle trailer highlights the core combat mechanics that define each run across the Queen's domain:
- Wonder Dimension and Encroachment Rate: Slaying enemies causes an indigo field known as the Wonder Dimension to spread across the battlefield. As the Encroachment Rate climbs, Alice begins to glow, boosting her attack power and accelerating her movement and combat speed.
- CRYMERIDE Grab-and-Drag Attacks: Pressing the grab button lets Alice seize an enemy or object directly in front of her. By holding the button down, she initiates CRYMERIDE, dragging the target across the floor until reaching a charged state before releasing to launch them violently into oncoming foes.
- Poker System and Crime Cards: Advancing across map nodes (including Card Spaces, Skill Spaces, Shop Spaces, Recovery Spaces, and Boss Spaces) rewards players with Crime Cards featuring a rank, suit, and combat modifier, such as increased normal attack speed, knock-back damage on dodge, cooldown skips, or automated attack drones. Collecting five cards to assemble poker hands (Pair, Three of a Kind, Straight, Flush, or Full House) raises the Hand Level and significantly amplifies every equipped card's skill effect.
- On-the-Fly Camera Mode Select: Players can switch at any time between an immersive close-up side-view camera and a tactical wide overhead view, as well as toggle on-screen data UI elements to suit their preferred playstyle.

Repentance Progression, Editions, and November 5 Release Date
While the playable trial focuses primarily on stage combat and early boss encounters, such as the unsettling twin duo Dee and Dum,the full game expands progression through the Repentance System. Back at base camp, Alice can confess the sins she has shouldered from defeated souls, converting tears of penitence into permanent upgrade materials for weapons and accessories. Even when a run ends in defeat and resets your collected cards, these base-level equipment upgrades carry forward alongside Tea Party conversations that uncover the cast's backstories and enemy lore.
Featured on the November 2026 video game release calendar, CRYMELIGHT launches globally on November 5, 2026 (November 4 on Steam depending on time zone) for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam, supporting English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Korean text with full Japanese voice acting. The digital Standard Edition is priced at an approachable $19.99 (with a 10% pre-order discount on consoles), while the $39.99 Digital Deluxe Edition bundles the base game with a 6-item DLC equipment set (including the Aquamarine Emotions and E.V.E weapons plus sin accessories for Cheshire, Mad, and March), the 80-page Partygoers' Memoirs digital artbook (supporting English text), a 30-track digital soundtrack, and a 3-track Japanese voice drama.
My Perspective
Having followed FuRyu's dark bishoujo action lineage since Crystar and CRYMACHINA, I find CRYMELIGHT to be their sharpest mechanical evolution yet. Where their earlier titles occasionally suffered from repetitive hack-and-slash corridors, pivoting to a brisk roguelike structure anchored by the Poker System injects genuine tactical tension into every room, deciding whether to reroll for a Straight or lock in a defensive card while keeping the indigo Wonder Dimension gauge surging feels immediately rewarding. Combined with YOGISYA's striking gothic art direction, Sakuzyo's haunting electronic score, and a budget-friendly $19.99 price tag, this free Switch 2 demo is well worth downloading before November 5.
