Faster Dodging, Boat Physics and Combat Fixes: The Witcher 3 Remastered Patch 5.01 Is Live

Following its massive worldwide launch in late September, The Witcher 3 Remastered received its first major post-launch overhaul on October 8. Labeled Patch 5.01 on PC and version 5.000.400 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, the update delivers critical combat refinements and open-world bug fixes.
Snappier Dodging and Persistent Blade Oils
Less than two weeks after the worldwide rollout of The Witcher 3 Remastered, CD Projekt Red is addressing core gameplay feedback from the community.
The standout improvement centers directly on combat responsiveness. The development team has noticeably reduced input latency on Geralt's side-step dodge, giving players much tighter control when maneuvering around aggressive beasts.
Alchemy specialists also receive a much-needed quality-of-life fix. Automatic blade oils now remain active across gameplay sessions and reload checkpoints, eliminating the annoying bug that forced players to manually reapply their coatings after dying or loading a save.

Stamina handling has also been patched. Previously, executing a dodge right after sprinting could unexpectedly deplete Geralt's entire stamina bar. That penalty is now gone, while Quen's Exploding Shield skill has been repaired to ensure reflected damage registers reliably.
Flying Boats, Collision Freezes, and Traversal Fixes
Across the waterways of Skellige and Velen, one of the remaster's strangest glitches has been put to rest. Uncontrollable boats that completely ignored terrain physics and sailed straight onto dry land are now properly bound to water surfaces.
The team also eliminated an infuriating collision snag during combat. Geralt will no longer get stuck against enemy corpses after landing an Aard sign finisher, restoring smooth movement in crowded skirmishes.
Ladder climbing animations now feature cleaner transition frames to prevent accidental lethal falls. Additional tweaks include fixed Vesemir voice lines, bomb-throwing precision adjustments, and balance corrections for the Synergy skill.
Interface Polish, PC Graphic Settings, and Switch 2 Optimization
Interface annoyances have also been cleared out. The persistent "Skill Point Available" banner that occasionally remained frozen on screen has been eliminated. The meditation menu flickering is resolved, and missing tutorial prompts for potion crafting have been restored.
On PC, the game now saves GTAO ambient occlusion settings between launches. Conflicts between Dynamic Resolution Scaling (DRS) and active anti-aliasing methods have also been patched.
Meanwhile, CD Projekt Red confirmed that dedicated optimization work for the Nintendo Switch 2 version remains underway. The studio aims to deliver technical parity, steady framerates, and sharp visual clarity on Nintendo's upcoming hardware.
Patch 5.01 is available for download immediately across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
