Splatoon Raiders Hits 2.42 Million as Fire Emblem and Star Fox Join the Nintendo Switch 2 Million-Seller Club

Fire Emblem Fortune's Weave and Nintendo Switch 2 Million Sellers November 2026

Alongside its first-half financial results for the period ending September 30, 2026, Nintendo Co., Ltd. has updated its official Top Selling Title Sales Units charts for both Nintendo Switch 2 and the original Nintendo Switch. Backed by an installed base that has now reached 26.35 million Nintendo Switch 2 consoles shipped worldwide, total software sales on the new hybrid platform have climbed to 73.21 million units (including 24.49 million sold between April and September 2026), welcoming three new first-party entries into the million-seller club: Splatoon Raiders, Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave, and Star Fox.

Three summer releases have officially crossed the one-million sales threshold on Nintendo Switch 2 as of September 30, 2026:

  • Splatoon Raiders (2.42 million units): Released on July 23, 2026, this solo-focused action-adventure spin-off made an immediate commercial impact with 2.42 million copies sold worldwide (occasionally cited as 2.24 million in early wire headlines due to a transposed digit).
  • Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave (1.34 million units): Launched on September 17, 2026, Intelligent Systems' latest tactical RPG needed less than two weeks before the September 30 accounting cutoff to sell 1.34 million copies globally.
  • Star Fox (1.17 million units): Released in late June 2026 in collaboration with Velan Studios, Fox McCloud's long-awaited return has reached 1.17 million units sold, already surpassing the lifetime total of Star Fox 64 3D on Nintendo 3DS.

At the top of the platform rankings, Mario Kart World remains in a league of its own, adding 1.09 million copies over the summer quarter to reach 16.48 million units sold (representing an extraordinary 62.5% attach rate across all Switch 2 hardware owners). Meanwhile, Donkey Kong Bananza officially crossed the five-million mark at 5.05 million units (+270,000 this quarter), followed closely by Pokémon Legends: Z-A (Nintendo Switch 2 Edition) and Pokémon Pokopia tied at 4.04 million units apiece. Nintendo also revealed that digital software revenue surged 60% year-on-year, with digital purchases now accounting for 60.7% of all software sales.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Hits 72 Million and Rhythm Heaven Groove Reaches 2.89 Million on Original Switch

More than nine years after its March 2017 debut, the original Nintendo Switch continues to move remarkable software volume across its 157.20 million hardware base, pushing lifetime software sales to 1,593.87 million units. Outside the all-time Top 10, two recent releases stood out in Nintendo's supplementary financial data: Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream climbed to 8.81 million units (and 8.83 million in consolidated reporting), while the rhythm compilation Rhythm Heaven Groove (Rhythm Paradise Groove in Europe and Australia) debuted on the million-seller list with 2.89 million copies sold.

Among evergreen catalog juggernauts, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe moved another 470,000 copies between July and September to hit an astonishing 72.00 million units worldwide, maintaining its lead over Animal Crossing: New Horizons (50.63 million) and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (38.50 million).

Because Nintendo's second-quarter report strictly covers sales through September 30, 2026, major autumn releases are not yet reflected in these totals. Players and analysts will have to wait until the third-quarter earnings release in February 2027 to see launch numbers for Nintendo Switch Sports Resort and the Switch 2 remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time co-developed with Monolith Soft.

My Perspective

What stands out to me most in this November update isn't even Mario Kart World cruising past 16.48 million copies (we all knew that game would print money on day one), but how strongly Switch 2 owners are showing up for experimental spin-offs and tactical RPGs. Seeing Splatoon Raiders pivot toward solo action-adventure and immediately rack up 2.42 million sales, or watching Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave clear 1.34 million units in barely thirteen days on shelves, proves that this audience is hungry for deep single-player experiences.

And honestly, seeing Star Fox back on an official Nintendo million-seller sheet with 1.17 million copies feels like a genuine victory for longtime fans. After years of the franchise sitting in dry dock, crossing the million mark proves there is still a real appetite for Fox McCloud when the gameplay delivers. As for the 470,000 people who somehow still bought a brand-new copy of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe this summer while Mario Kart World was right there on store shelves, that remains one of the greatest unsolved mysteries in gaming history.
