The Great Villainess: Strategy of Lily Launches December 2 on Nintendo Switch 2 and PS5 With New Costumes and Stream Airship Tactics

Following its initial launch on PC via Steam in July 2025, the voxel-based tactical RPG The Great Villainess: Strategy of Lily is officially expanding to consoles. Publisher Alliance Arts, alongside developers One or Eight and WSS playground, announced that the turn-based strategy title will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5 on December 2, 2026 in the West (December 3 in Japan) for $29.99 (3,290 yen).

Featuring main character designs by illustrator Rolua, a soundtrack composed by U2 Akiyama, and direction by Masked D, the console release joins the December 2026 game release calendar with full support for English, Japanese, French, German, Korean, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese.

A Framed Duchess and the Stream Airship Rebellion

Set within the rigid aristocratic hierarchy of an Empire with no modern communications network, the story follows Duchess Scarlet, a defiant noblewoman framed for regicide following the assassination of the Emperor. Sentenced to the guillotine, Scarlet is rescued from execution by Lily, a mysterious girl commanding an advanced technological marvel known as the Stream Airship.

Combining Scarlet's boldness with Lily's cold pragmatism, the duo sparks a continent-spanning revolution. Rather than asking players to defend every inch of territory across its 3D voxel battlefields, combat revolves around controlling Supply Lines. Outposts linked directly to your headquarters receive crucial per-turn support, whereas severing an Imperial general's supply line leaves their forces vulnerable to a concentrated assault.

Psychological Warfare, Capturing Generals, and Branching Paths

At the heart of the battlefield is the Stream Airship, a map-wide tactical weapon capable of broadcasting psychological warfare directly to Imperial troops through specialized programs:

  • Stalling Stream: Distracts enemy battalions and freezes their advance across the map.
  • Interception Stream: Cuts off enemy supply lines feeding the frontlines.
  • Surrender Stream: Convinces entire Imperial squads to lay down their weapons or defect.
  • Hustle Stream: Boosts allied movement speed to intercept enemy ambushes.
  • Capture Stream: Lily's signature broadcast that allows her to take defeated enemy generals alive.

Every boss encounter presents a defining moral and strategic choice. Using the Capture Stream to capture all enemy generals recruits them into Scarlet's revolutionary army, unlocking their unique abilities and new broadcast options while opening the sole path to the game's True Happy Ending that clears Scarlet's name. Conversely, choosing to execute defeated generals still advances the story and dramatically boosts Scarlet and Lily's raw combat stats as they descend into becoming Demon Queens, though the truth behind the Emperor's assassination is lost forever. Meanwhile, fielding specific pairs of allies together builds their trust levels, triggering Unite Episodes and unlocking tag-team Unison Skills.

Free Collaboration Costumes and Editions Lineup

To celebrate the Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5 launch, Alliance Arts is releasing a free update on launch day (which will also be deployed simultaneously to the Steam version) adding two crossover outfits inspired by other titles in the publisher's catalog:

  • "Qtie Dress" for Lily: A collaboration costume featuring Yunyun Syndrome!? Rhythm Psychosis.
  • "Femme Sœur Dress" for Scarlet: A collaboration outfit inspired by Drunken Goddess Reflux.

Players will be able to pick up the Standard Edition ($29.99) or the Digital Deluxe Edition, which bundles the base game with the official Soundtrack and Digital Art Works book.

My Perspective

What stands out to me most about The Great Villainess: Strategy of Lily is how cleverly it turns the popular "framed otome villainess" trope into a high-stakes tactical puzzle. Because Scarlet's rebel army is constantly outnumbered, abandoning minor outposts to sever Imperial supply lines and timing Lily's Stream Airship broadcasts creates a constant tug-of-war on every map. Having the choice between methodically capturing every commander for the true ending or embracing the ruthless Demon Queen route gives the campaign genuine replay value, and its turn-based structure is a natural fit for handheld play on Nintendo Switch 2 and PS5 this December.
