Derke and Boo Join Aurora Gaming: Inside the Full Valorant Roster Targeting VCT EMEA 2027 Through Open Qualifiers

Nikita Derke Sirmitev joins Aurora Gaming Valorant roster alongside Boo for VCT EMEA 2027

Serbian esports organization Aurora Gaming, already a familiar contender across Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, and Apex Legends, has officially entered competitive Valorant for the first time. Rather than easing into the ecosystem with a developmental project, the club has assembled an immediate European super-roster headlined by superstar duelist Nikita "Derke" Sirmitev and former Team Heretics captain Ričardas "Boo" Lukaševičius.

Derke, Boo, and trexx Headline a Proven European Lineup

According to Aurora Gaming CEO Adalyat "krookie" Mamedov, the entire lineup came together in just a few days right before the registration lock for the upcoming VCT EMEA qualification cycle. By moving quickly at the end of the offseason window, the organization locked down multiple international finalists who were still available on the market.

Leading the firepower is Nikita "Derke" Sirmitev, who joins Aurora fresh off a runner-up finish at VALORANT Champions 2026 with Team Vitality, adding to a legendary trophy cabinet that already includes VCT LOCK//IN São Paulo and Masters Tokyo titles from his years with Fnatic. Calling the shots as In-Game Leader (IGL) is Lithuanian veteran Ričardas "Boo" Lukaševičius, the tactical backbone behind Team Heretics during their deep international championship runs.

The roster also marks a high-profile reunion between Derke and initiator Nikita "trexx" Cherednichenko, who previously teamed up under the Team Vitality banner before trexx's stint with Team Liquid. Rounding out the starting five are sharp rifler Egor "chiwa" Stepaniuk (formerly of Acend, Apeks, and Joblife) and controller/flex player Vitaliy "B1SK" Emelyanov (formerly of UCAM Esports). Mamedov confirmed that a head coach has also been signed to lead the squad, with the coach's identity set to be revealed shortly.

  • Nikita "Derke" Sirmitev (Finland / Russia): Duelist (former Team Vitality, Fnatic)
  • Ričardas "Boo" Lukaševičius (Lithuania): In-Game Leader / Controller (former Team Heretics)
  • Nikita "trexx" Cherednichenko (Russia): Initiator (former Team Liquid, Team Vitality)
  • Egor "chiwa" Stepaniuk (Russia): Sentinel / Flex (former Joblife, Apeks, Acend)
  • Vitaliy "B1SK" Emelyanov (Russia): Controller / Flex (former UCAM Esports)

Why Aurora Gaming Must Fight Through November's VCT EMEA Open Qualifiers

Despite boasting a lineup stacked with Tier-1 veterans, Aurora Gaming does not hold a permanent franchise slot. When Riot Games reshaped the league down to 32 partner teams instead of 40 for the VCT 2027-2028 cycle, each international league (EMEA, Americas, Pacific, and CN) was streamlined to 8 fixed partner organizations.

To balance that reduction, Riot dismantled the closed Ascension bottleneck in favor of direct open-bracket meritocracy. Just as seen in the VCT 2027 format with 8 partner teams and guaranteed Open Qualifier payouts, the 12-team VCT EMEA Kickoff 2027 tournament (running from January 14 to February 7, 2027 at the Riot Games Arena in Berlin) will pit the 8 partnered clubs against 4 teams advancing directly from Open Qualifiers (2 slots from Europe, 1 from Türkiye, and 1 from MENA).

Any non-partnered roster that punches its ticket to Kickoff or the new Regional Cups receives a fixed $100,000 financial support payout per event from Riot Games on top of tournament prize money. To claim one of Europe's two Berlin spots, Aurora Gaming will enter the bracket next week across the following schedule:

  • VCT EMEA Kickoff Europe Qualifier 1: November 5 to November 8, 2026
  • VCT EMEA Kickoff Europe Qualifier 2: November 12 to November 15, 2026
  • Europe Qualifier Swiss Stage & Playoffs: November 25 to December 5, 2026
  • VCT EMEA Kickoff 2027 (Berlin LAN): January 14 to February 7, 2027

My Take

Watching a reigning VALORANT Champions grand finalist like Derke and a proven tactical mind like Boo drop straight into the November Open Qualifiers is the exact jolt of adrenaline competitive Valorant needed. For years, the closed partnership wall kept ambitious outside organizations stuck in Tier-2 limbo while underperforming partner rosters coasted on guaranteed slots. With Riot's 2027 open pathway and $100,000 stipends on the table, Aurora Gaming just proved that non-partnered orgs are ready to build Tier-1 juggernauts. Still, open brackets are notoriously ruthless: with less than a week of practice together before November 5, Boo and Derke cannot afford a slow start against hungry European grinders who have been scrimming all autumn.
