Delisted on November 21 and Servers Shutting Down in 2027: Sony Cancels Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble Before Its Global Launch

Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble mobile game shutdown Sony Insomniac

Less than a year after its initial reveal in November 2025, PlayStation's mobile arena shooter is officially shutting down before ever reaching a worldwide audience. Developed by Paris-based studio Oh BiBi in partnership with Sony Interactive Entertainment and supervised by Insomniac Games, Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble has ceased development following a limited regional soft launch in select testing territories. In an official statement published on November 6, 2026, the development team confirmed that the iOS and Android spin-off will be pulled from mobile storefronts this month ahead of a complete server shutdown in 2027.

Built as a fast-paced third-person multiplayer hero shooter set inside Captain Qwark's combat simulation, the mobile title featured rail-grinding, dashing, and classic weapons from the franchise. However, the project will not move past its regional testing phase.

From November 6, 2026 to May 1, 2027: The Complete Shutdown Timeline

In its farewell notice on the official website, the development team outlined the exact three-stage wind-down schedule for Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble as PlayStation Studios continues to recalibrate its multiplayer and live-service pipeline:

  • November 6 and 7, 2026 (Final Update & Free Super Pass): The final content patch rolls out across the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. All real-money in-app purchases have been permanently disabled. To let players experience the remaining content, the Super Pass across all Qwark Pass seasons is now completely free, allowing everyone to unlock characters, cosmetics, and upgrades purely through gameplay. Pre-registration rewards are also delivered to player inboxes with the November 7 update.
  • November 21, 2026 (App Store & Google Play Delisting): Starting November 21, Ranger Rumble will be permanently removed from both Apple's App Store and Google Play. New players will no longer be able to download the application after this date.
  • May 1, 2027 (Permanent Server Shutdown / End of Service): Existing players who already have the game installed prior to November 21 can continue accessing all multiplayer modes, competitive matchmaking, and Qwark Pass seasons until May 1, 2027. Once the servers shut down on that date, the game will no longer load and all player account data will be wiped.

Refunds and Impact on Future Ratchet & Clank Games

According to the official FAQ, in-game progress, unlocked cosmetics, and unused virtual currency cannot be transferred to any other PlayStation title. Players who spent money during the regional soft launch have until May 1, 2027, to use their remaining currency in-game, while any refund requests for past purchases must be submitted directly through Apple's App Store or Google Play support policies.

Sony Interactive Entertainment also emphasized that shutting down Ranger Rumble has zero impact on other Ratchet & Clank games or PlayStation services, with Insomniac Games keeping its internal teams focused on flagship PS5 productions following Marvel's Wolverine reaching 2.4 million copies sold on PS5.

My Perspective

Watching a Ratchet & Clank project get pulled before it even reaches a global launch highlights just how unforgiving the mobile live-service market remains for legacy console franchises. Even with Oh BiBi's proven track record in fast-paced mobile shooters, translating the explosive single-player charm of Insomniac's universe into a free-to-play arena brawler faced an uphill battle from the moment it was revealed in late 2025. At the very least, making the Super Pass completely free until May 2027 gives anyone who downloads the app before November 21 a fair chance to test out the roster without spending a dime.
