Mafia 3 Gets Surprise Native PS5 and Xbox Series Versions at 60 FPS: Free Upgrade Live Now

Exactly ten years after Lincoln Clay first carved his path through New Bordeaux, 2K Games and Hangar 13 have released a major surprise update. The third chapter of the crime saga now features dedicated native versions on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, available at no extra cost for existing owners.
This stealth launch follows the recent ratings spotted on console databases. Until today, current-gen console players had to rely on backward compatibility, locked at a sluggish 30 frames per second.

Smooth 60 FPS Gameplay Arrives on Modern Consoles
On PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, Mafia 3: Definitive Edition now runs at a steady 60 frames per second. High-speed muscle car chases and firefights feel significantly more responsive than the original release.
Console solid-state drives drastically cut loading screens down to just a few seconds. The visual output also benefits from cleaner resolution scaling, removing the blurry presentation that plagued the older generation.
If you already own the game on PS4 or Xbox One, this upgrade is completely free. Simply head to the PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store to claim the native current-gen edition and begin downloading.
Save Transfers Are Not Supported Across Generations
There is one crucial detail returning players must keep in mind. Save files from PlayStation 4 and Xbox One cannot be imported into the new native PS5 and Xbox Series applications.
Jumping into this new release means starting Lincoln Clay's vendetta from the prologue. The trade-off is experiencing the entire narrative with unlocked responsiveness and fast loading.
PC Patch Delivers 240 FPS Support and Long-Awaited Bug Fixes
Hangar 13 has also rolled out an extensive technical update for PC players on Steam, modernizing several engine features in Mafia 3: Definitive Edition.
The PC version now supports high-refresh displays with options for 120, 144, 180, and 240 FPS, alongside complete multi-monitor setup compatibility.
Several legacy progression blockers are finally fixed, including issues during the Enzo Conti, Tommy Marcano, and Epilogue missions. The patch also eliminates known crash triggers when driving into the Wharf district or shooting gas canisters.
To celebrate the 10-year anniversary milestone, 2K has discounted the game and the Mafia: The Omertà Collection by 80% across all digital storefronts.
