Nintendo and Bandai Namco Entertainment have officially released the launch trailer for Hello Kitty Party Land, available starting today, October 29, 2026, on both Nintendo Switch 2 and the original Nintendo Switch. Serving as the flagship debut under the newly established Sanrio Games banner and developed by G-STYLE, this multiplayer party title turns Sanrio's pastel universe into an interactive theme park built for up to four players locally or online. However, buyers browsing the Nintendo eShop should pay close attention to a strict cross-generation limitation specified in the official store listing.

Five Theme Park Attractions and Over 145 Sanrio Characters

Known as Sanrio Party Land in Japan, the game begins by letting players design a custom avatar with unlockable hairstyles, outfits, and themed accessories before pairing up with one of 16 playable Sanrio partner characters. Alongside headliners like Hello Kitty, Cinnamoroll, Kuromi, My Melody, and Pompompurin, the playable roster includes fan favorites such as Pochacco, Chococat, Keroppi, Hangyodon, Gudetama, and the Little Twin Stars (Kiki and Lala). Beyond your active partner, exploring the park allows you to meet over 145 iconic Sanrio characters and collect their dedicated stickers.

Rather than confining players to a simple menu of minigames, the central hub connects five distinct park districts that blend tabletop competition with relaxed life-sim activities:

  • Game Park: the main competitive arena housing Board Game Mode alongside more than 45 original minigames spanning sports, cooking, reflex challenges, and rhythm stages, complete with adjustable difficulty settings, Score Attack, and Time Attack options.
  • Sky Farm: a laid-back floating farm where players can grow fruits and vegetables, cast a fishing line, and venture into a mysterious underground cave.
  • Creative Labo: an interactive workshop featuring drawing tools, music creation, and Sanrio-themed puzzle challenges.
  • Shopping Mall: the commercial plaza where points earned during minigames can be exchanged for fresh wardrobe pieces and character costumes.
  • Photo Studio: a dedicated staging area to snap custom pictures alongside your favorite Sanrio companions.

"Petit Games" Keep Board Game Mode Moving Between Turns

To solve one of the oldest complaints in tabletop party games, developer G-STYLE introduced a clever side mechanic called Petit Games. During Board Game Mode, four duos (each pairing a custom player avatar with a Sanrio companion) compete across a set number of in-game days, spinning a numbered six-petal flower wheel to gather flowers across the board. Instead of sitting idle while opponents take their turns, waiting players can jump into bite-sized Petit Games right on their screen to keep the action flowing and earn extra rewards.

Supporting 1 to 4 players on a single system (across TV, Tabletop, and Handheld modes) as well as online co-op and competitive matchmaking via Nintendo Switch Online, the title arrives as part of the packed Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch releases for October 29, 2026. Tabletop fans looking for something far more cutthroat on Nintendo's new hardware can also look ahead to Dokapon Kingdom: Connect 2 on Nintendo Switch 2 next summer.

Price, File Size, and the Missing Nintendo Switch 2 Upgrade Path

Priced at $49.99 / €49.99 both digitally on the Nintendo eShop and as a physical Day One retail release, Hello Kitty Party Land requires a modest 3.18 GB download on Nintendo Switch 2 (product code BEEPABWWB) and supports eight languages, including English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Korean, and Traditional and Simplified Chinese.

However, the official Nintendo eShop disclaimer highlights a critical restriction for multi-console households: although separate Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 versions are sold at the exact same $49.99 price point, there is no Nintendo Switch 2 Edition upgrade pack. Furthermore, save data cannot be shared or transferred between the original Nintendo Switch version and the Nintendo Switch 2 edition. Players who already own Nintendo's new console or plan to pick up a physical copy should double-check the platform banner before buying, as unlocking 145 character stickers on the original Switch version means starting over from scratch if you ever switch editions.

My Perspective

Riding the cozy momentum that Hello Kitty Island Adventure built over the past year, shifting gears into a full-fledged four-player party game feels like a natural next step for Sanrio Games and Bandai Namco. Adding the Sky Farm and Creative Labo gives solo players and younger fans a welcoming sandbox to unwind in, and the Petit Games system is genuinely smart design. Anyone who has ever hosted a four-player board game night knows how quickly attention wanders between dice rolls, so giving waiting players quick micro-challenges is a great way to keep everyone engaged.

That said, launching at $49.99 puts this game in the same price bracket as heavyweights like Super Mario Party Jamboree, which makes Bandai Namco's strict cross-gen wall hard to excuse. Blocking any upgrade path between Switch and Switch 2, and worse, preventing save data transfers in a collection-heavy game built around unlocking 145 stickers and dozens of avatar outfits, is an unnecessary trap for families shopping for the holidays. If you are jumping into Party Land for Cinnamoroll and Kuromi, make sure you grab the native Nintendo Switch 2 version right from the start.
