Demon Slayer Hinokami Chronicles 2 Nintendo Switch 2

The final week of October brings a stacked wave of physical cartridges and digital eShop launches across Japan and the West. This Thursday, October 29, 2026 combines high-framerate Nintendo Switch 2 enhancements, a ground-up remake of a legendary sci-fi visual novel, and family party games that round out our October 2026 video game release calendar.

From 60 FPS arena battles to a brand-new worldline in Akihabara, here is the complete breakdown of the Japanese and global Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch lineup for October 29.

Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles 2 Hits 60 FPS on Nintendo Switch 2

Leading the charge on October 29, 2026 is Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Hinokami Chronicles 2 (Nintendo Switch 2 Edition), published by Aniplex and SEGA and developed by CyberConnect2. While the original Nintendo Switch release was capped at 30 frames per second, this dedicated Switch 2 version runs at a locked 60 FPS alongside higher-resolution character models and effects.

In Japan, the physical retail cartridge launches at 7,810 yen (tax included) and bundles the Infinity Castle Part 1 Character Pass right out of the box. Across North America and Europe, SEGA is offering the Digital Standard Edition at $39.99 (including immediate unlock keys for Academy Rengoku and Academy Uzui), a $59.99 physical retail edition bundling the Character Pass, and a $64.99 Digital Ultimate Edition.

Even better for returning players, anyone who already owns the original Nintendo Switch version can claim a free upgrade to the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition with full save data transfer support (excluding standalone DLC passes). Cross-play is also supported across both generations, automatically syncing the match framerate to 30 FPS whenever an opponent connects from the original Switch hardware.

STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT and the October 29 Switch 2 Lineup

Sharing the spotlight this Thursday is MAGES. and Spike Chunsoft's full-scale remake, STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT. Launching digitally worldwide and physically in Japan and North America on October 29, 2026 for 6,380 yen / $39.99 on Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch (with European physical Standard and SteelBook editions following on November 3 due to shipping logistics), this release completely rebuilds the 2009 classic.

Series artist huke has redrawn every character sprite and outfit from scratch, doubling the total number of event illustrations compared to the original Xbox 360 release and expanding the background art by 20 percent based on 2010 archival photos of Akihabara. Composer Takeshi Abo has rearranged the entire soundtrack, the original Japanese cast returned to re-record every line of voice acting, and a brand-new Gamma Worldline route sends Rintaro Okabe down a dark alternate path alongside Moeka Kiryu where the Hououin Kyouma persona never existed.

Developed by G-Style, the party game brings together over 145 Sanrio characters (including Hello Kitty, Cinnamoroll, Kuromi, and Pompompurin) across more than 45 mini-games and board game modes for up to four players.

Japanese Switch 2 shelves also welcome G-MODE's Kuukiyomi 4: Consider It (Nintendo Switch 2 Edition+), which uses the Joy-Con 2 mouse sensor controls for exclusive social-awareness mini-games and includes full multi-language support on the cartridge. Rounding out the Switch 2 eShop schedule are Red Art Games' Joe & Mac Retro Collection ($19.99, packing three 16-bit Data East classics with rewind and CRT filters), the cozy hidden-object puzzle game A Tower Full of Cats, and Glow Box.

My Perspective

Watching the Japanese release calendar unfold every week, this October 29 lineup captures everything that makes the Nintendo Switch 2 transition so enjoyable right now. Offering a free 60 FPS upgrade path for Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles 2 respects players who already bought the game on the first Switch, letting them jump straight into smooth arena matches without paying twice for the base game.

At the same time, seeing huke and Takeshi Abo pour so much care into rebuilding STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT shows how a legendary visual novel should be treated fifteen years later. Between diving into the dark new Gamma Worldline in handheld mode and testing out the Joy-Con 2 mouse controls in quirky Japanese releases like Kuukiyomi 4, there is plenty to keep both import collectors and eShop players busy this weekend.
