Archetype Entertainment Redesigns Jun Aslan in Exodus Following Community Feedback

Texas-based studio Archetype Entertainment has just published its October 2026 Community Update on the official Exodus website, unveiling a major visual overhaul for its central protagonist, Jun Aslan. Founded by veteran RPG developers behind Mass Effect, Baldur's Gate, and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, including Chad Robertson, James Ohlen, and Drew Karpyshyn under the Wizards of the Coast banner, the team directly reworked the default male character model after listening closely to player feedback from earlier trailers.
A Sharper, More Mature Face Presented by Chad Robertson
In a dedicated 83-second behind-the-scenes video, Archetype Entertainment General Manager Chad Robertson walks players through the updated look of male Jun Aslan. Following the initial Rise of Jun Aslan and release date trailers, sections of the community felt the default hero looked slightly too smooth and youthful for a hardened salvager fighting to survive on the dying moon of Lidon.
The updated 3D model features noticeably sharper facial structure, refined skin textures, stronger jawline definition, and more expressive eyes under the harsh lighting of the Centauri Cluster. The showcase highlights Jun wearing his signature Traveler armor emblazoned with the winged lion crest of his father, Orion Aslan, while channeling the neural induction gift inherited from his mother, Ava, to interface with ancient Celestial technology.
Full Character Customization and a FemJun Reveal on the Horizon
Alongside the redesigned default face, Archetype Entertainment reiterated that players will be able to make the hero their own from the very start of the journey. You can choose to play Jun Aslan as either male or female, with several customization options available to personalize your Traveler:
- Hairstyles and hair color to tailor Jun's silhouette across cutscenes and exploration.
- Facial hair options allowing players to add beards or stubble to male Jun.
- Tattoos to bring a distinct personal mark to your protagonist.

For players waiting to see the female version of the protagonist, affectionately dubbed FemJun by both the studio and the community,Archetype confirmed that a dedicated reveal is currently in the works and coming soon. The team is also preparing a broader combat deep-dive showcasing how players can switch modes on the fly with the Recycler rifle, wield the Gauntlet, or opt for stealth, building on the recent hands-on previews of the "Liberating the Kay" mission on the moon of Khonsu.
1 Million Wishlist Milestone Rewards and April 7, 2027 Launch
Following its major appearance during Gamescom 2026, the sci-fi action RPG continues to rally players around its community Wishlist Milestone campaign. The community has already cleared the first threshold of 500,000 wishlists, unlocking the in-game Celestial Star Map apartment decoration, a batch of concept art, and the score track "Elegy for a Forgotten World."
The next milestone sits at 1 million wishlists, which will unlock three new rewards for everyone: Salt's Companion Story Cinematic (exploring the backstory of the fan-favorite Awakened octopus bounty hunter), the in-game Jun Casual Outfit Bundle for both male and female Jun, and two additional radio music tracks. A further tier at 1.5 million wishlists will unlock a five-piece Companion Cosmetic Bundle alongside an ambient music track.
Featuring Matthew McConaughey as the enigmatic mentor C.C. Orlev and anchored by relativistic time dilation where weeks in deep space translate into years or decades back home, Exodus stands out as one of the biggest highlights on the 2027 game release calendar. The game launches on April 7, 2027 for PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
My Take
I really appreciate how transparently Archetype Entertainment handled this visual overhaul. When the earlier trailers dropped, I also felt that default male Jun looked a bit too clean-cut compared to the gritty armor design and the strong presence of companions around him. Giving his face more character, sharper skin detail, and confirming full customization for hair, facial hair, and tattoos proves that these former BioWare veterans are actively listening to RPG fans months ahead of the April 2027 launch. Now I cannot wait to see what they have cooking for the dedicated FemJun showcase.
