Chrono Odyssey Unveils the Paladin Class Against Miragin in 4 Minutes of Uncut Gameplay Ahead of Its Q2 2027 Launch

After a Closed Beta Test that left many players divided over stiff animations, camera tracking, and frame rate drops, Chrono Odyssey is back with raw proof of its progress. South Korean developer Chrono Studio and publisher Kakao Games have released a four-minute, single-take gameplay video captured directly from the current Unreal Engine 5 development build. The unedited solo encounter puts the spotlight on the newly revealed Paladin class going toe-to-toe with a formidable Chrono Gate boss named Miragin the Deceiver.
A Solo Chrono Gate Showdown Featuring the Paladin Class Debut
Rather than relying on fast-cut promotional trailers, Chrono Studio opted to show a complete solo attempt from start to finish inside a Chrono Gate. Hidden across the open world of Setera, Chrono Gates are high-difficulty solo boss encounters designed to test a player's grasp of parrying, positioning, and stamina management.
More importantly, the footage serves as the first full gameplay showcase of the Paladin. While the previous beta test restricted players to the Swordsman, Ranger, and Berserker classes, the Paladin enters the fray armed with a long spear and a heavy shield. Throughout the four-minute clash against Miragin, the Paladin weaves rapid spear thrusts together with timed shield blocks to absorb crimson shockwaves, culminating in a heavy strike that summons a giant spectral spear from above.

Chronotector Time Manipulation in Action: Replicate and Isolation
Beyond the spear-and-shield weapon set, the showcase highlights how the game's core time-bending artifact, the Chronotector, now flows seamlessly into active combat rotations. Inside the arena, the Paladin relies on two distinct temporal abilities to turn the tide against Miragin:
- Replicate: Clearing a Chrono Gate allows the Chronotector to capture the defeated boss's power. During the fight against Miragin, the player triggers Replicate to briefly summon a previously defeated boss and unleash its signature combat skill for heavy stagger damage.
- Isolation: This ability freezes time around the target for a brief window, locking Miragin in place mid-assault and creating a clean opening to land charged attacks or recover stamina.
Post-Beta Combat Overhaul and Q2 2027 Release Window
Releasing an uncut combat run directly addresses the main criticisms raised during the closed beta. Over the past months, Chrono Studio has overhauled input responsiveness, client-server synchronization, hit registration delays, and enemy hit-reaction durations to give melee clashes a heavier, more responsive feel. Lighting passes and Unreal Engine 5 rendering optimizations have also been reworked to stabilize performance across a broader range of hardware, joining a busy wave of major RPG updates like Crimson Desert on PS5 and PC.
To give the development team enough time to refine all six launch classes and polish end-game dungeons, Kakao Games has set the global launch window for Chrono Odyssey to Q2 2027 on PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. You can keep track of every confirmed launch in our 2027 video game release calendar as the new window approaches.
My Take
Dropping four minutes of raw, unedited boss gameplay with zero flashy camera cuts is the exact kind of transparency Chrono Studio needed to show after a rough beta test. Where movement previously felt floaty and hit feedback lacked punch, watching the Paladin brace behind a shield and counter Miragin's combos shows a clear step forward in weight and combat readability. If the studio can maintain this level of responsiveness in crowded open-world zones just as well as in a solo Chrono Gate, delaying the launch to Q2 2027 will prove to be the smartest call they could have made.
