BioShock Playable in Co-Op for the First Time: How BioShock Together Turns the Classic Campaign Into a Duo Run

Rapture has always been a solitary nightmare, but nearly two decades after Jack plunged into the icy Atlantic, that isolation is officially broken. BioShock Remastered is now fully playable in cooperative multiplayer on PC.
Modding outfit Void Crown Studios, spearheaded by developer Nyko, has officially released the first public Alpha Playtest for its long-awaited project, BioShock Together.
The Entire Story Campaign Explored in Two-Player Co-Op
Unlike basic survival maps or arena skirmishes, BioShock Together lets two players tackle the complete single-player narrative from the iconic lighthouse crash to the final confrontation.
The guest player joins the world as a Splicer character model, fully equipped to fight alongside the host. Both players can fire weapons, chain Plasmids and Tonics to electrocute water pools or incinerate foes, hack security turrets, and coordinate strategies against roaming Big Daddies.
A Complex Reverse-Engineering Feat on PC
Transforming a game built strictly for single-player without an official SDK required extensive memory reverse-engineering and a bespoke netcode pipeline. The mod synchronizes entity damage, inventory looting, mission triggers, and level transitions through the host machine.
It highlights the incredible drive of PC modders, echoing recent community achievements like the native PC port of God of War 3 Remastered running in 4K.

Free Alpha Playtest Live on Nexus Mods
Players can jump into the alpha build right now through Nexus Mods and the official Void Crown Studios Discord server.
Because the mod is currently in Alpha 0.1, the developers note that players may encounter occasional enemy desyncs or crashes during heavy physics sequences. Seamless progression requires following setup instructions and relying on host checkpoint saves.
Seeing Rapture experienced cooperatively delivers on a dream fans have harbored since 2007. As 2K and Cloud Chamber continue work on the next mainline installment, Void Crown Studios has handed the community the ultimate excuse to dive back into the depths.
