130,000 Wishlists and Skipping the Original Switch: Survival Horror TPS ANOMALITH Launches on Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, and Steam

ANOMALITH Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, and Steam launch showcasing Reona Minazuki Demi-Humanization mutation

The gates to the Anomaly Zones are officially wide open. Developed by Winning Entertainment Group and published by FuRyu Corporation, the survival horror third-person shooter ANOMALITH launches today, October 29, 2026, across Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam. Having just crossed 130,000 Steam wishlists on launch morning, the title immediately stands out as a bold genre outlier on Nintendo's newest hybrid hardware.

Skipping the Original Switch for a Native Nintendo Switch 2 Release

While many mid-sized Japanese releases still straddle hardware generations, FuRyu opted to bypass the original Nintendo Switch entirely in favor of a native Nintendo Switch 2 version. That extra headroom allows the game to render its warped architectural geometry, eerie fluorescent lighting, and tactical over-the-shoulder gunfights without sacrificing visual clarity.

Written by scenario veteran Romeo Tanaka, the story follows 17-year-old Reona Minazuki, who awakens from a ten-year coma and joins the Anomaly Zone Countermeasures Office as a Diver to track down her missing best friend. Infected during her inaugural deployment, she unlocks a Demi-Humanization mutation system that grafts monstrous abilities onto her own body, backed by striking character designs from MON and a haunting score composed by Yuka Kitamura (Bloodborne, Dark Souls III, Elden Ring).

The Demo Covered Just 10% of the Game, Plus a Secretly Added Photo Mode

To mark the global release, producer Gai Kidokoro shared an open letter on Steam detailing several behind-the-scenes stories from development. Most notably, he emphasized that the playable ANOMALITH demo on PS5, Switch 2, and Steam represented only about 10% of the full campaign. The retail build opens up sprawling new Anomaly Zones modeled after nostalgically eerie Showa-era Japanese shopping arcades (shotengai) and aging apartment complexes turned into liminal labyrinths.

Kidokoro also highlighted the development team's infectious enthusiasm: one firearm-obsessed designer meticulously modeled the internal firing mechanisms of the game's weapons down to the bolts and springs, while a full Photo Mode somehow found its way into the final build before the producer even realized it was being built. That feature pairs naturally with the game's 300-plus cosmetic customization items.

Launch Pricing, 10% Discount, and Peripeteia Crossover Bundle

After hitting 120,000 wishlists and unveiling its Peripeteia crossover during Steam Next Fest last week, ANOMALITH carries a standard price tag of $49.99 / €49.99 across the Nintendo Switch 2 eShop, PlayStation Store, and Steam, alongside a physical Game-Key Card edition in Japan (¥8,580). On Steam, a 10% launch discount brings the price down to $44.99 / €44.99 through November 11, 2026, accompanied by the 10%-off ANOMALITH × Peripeteia collaboration bundle and the early-purchase DLC set designed by Lost Property Control Organization creator Hoshi.

My Perspective

This is exactly the kind of weird, unapologetic swing the Nintendo Switch 2 library needs right now. Instead of holding the game back to squeeze onto 2017 hardware, FuRyu and Winning Entertainment went all-in on a gritty Showa-era liminal horror shooter where body-horror mutations meet Yuka Kitamura's unmistakable musical dread. Honestly, hearing that the developers snuck a full Photo Mode into the build behind their own producer's back while obsessing over internal gun mechanics tells you everything about how much heart went into this project. If that opening demo hooked you, having 90% of the labyrinth still waiting to be explored makes this an easy day-one dive.
