After Topping 200,000 Steam Wishlists, King's Field-Inspired RPG Queen's Domain Launches October 30 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC

After surging past 200,000 wishlists on Steam and drawing strong word of mouth during October's Steam Next Fest, Queen's Domain is officially making the jump to consoles on day one. Two-person indie studio Freshly Baked Games and publisher Future Friends Games have revealed that their retro dark-fantasy action RPG will launch on October 30, 2026, arriving simultaneously on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam.

Simultaneous Release Across Current-Gen Consoles and PC on October 30
Originally unveiled as a PC dungeon crawler, Queen's Domain used its new release date trailer to confirm that console players will not have to wait for a later port. Launching on October 30 across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and Steam, the game locks in a prime late-month spot on the October 2026 video game release calendar right on the eve of Halloween.
Publisher Future Friends Games, whose horror roguelite CloverPit was recently highlighted in the PlayStation Indies Halloween horror lineup, is backing the two-developer team at Freshly Baked Games as they bring their atmospheric first-person adventure to both living room screens and Nintendo's hybrid handheld.
Channeling FromSoftware's King's Field on the Labyrinthine Isle of Neasied
Right down to the clever wordplay in its title, Queen's Domain wears its love for FromSoftware's 1990s first-person King's Field trilogy on its sleeve. The story begins after a shipwreck leaves your protagonist washed ashore on the fog-shrouded Isle of Neasied. Setting out to find your missing father, you must navigate an interconnected world of Mayan-inspired temple ruins, coastal cliffs, and deep subterranean dungeons where sinister forces gather and an ancient sleeping Queen has begun to stir.
While the crunchy low-poly visuals, classic top-left health and stamina bars, and stone compass UI immediately evoke fifth-generation console RPGs, exploration is built around vertical mobility. Players wield the Legendary Holy Sword Endu, a mystical blade that lets you glide and leap across wide chasms from platform to platform, with sword upgrades unlocking longer flight distances and hidden shortcuts across the island.
Over 50 Melee Weapons, Cooldown-Based Throwing Blades, and Over 100 Enemies
First-person combat revolves around deliberate spacing, stamina management, heavy charge swings, and weapon-specific special skills against a roster of more than 100 enemy types, mini-bosses, and major bosses, ranging from skeletal warriors and fish-folk to laser-spitting flora. To survive the island's deepest caverns, players can build their character around several interlocking systems:
- 50+ Melee Weapons: Discover, equip, and upgrade dozens of close-quarters weapons tucked away in secret rooms, from crude wooden clubs and heavy warhammers to enchanted blades.
- 20+ Secondary Throwing Weapons: Instead of forcing players to hoard scarce ammunition, throwing daggers and ranged tools operate on individual cooldown timers so you can weave ranged strikes directly into melee combos.
- Deep RPG Progression: Earn experience points (XP) to level up, equip stat-boosting accessories, and eat cooked meals to permanently or temporarily strengthen your attributes before boss encounters.
My Take
I love seeing a retro dungeon crawler like Queen's Domain secure a simultaneous launch on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 instead of staying locked to PC for its first year. First-person RPGs built in the spirit of King's Field thrive on slow, methodical exploration and secret hunting, and having the option to glide across the ruins of Neasied with the Holy Sword Endu in handheld mode on Switch 2 or on a big screen with a controller makes October 30 even more exciting for old-school dark fantasy fans.
