134.85 GB Digital-Only on PS5 and Mandatory SSD on PC: What Phantom Blade Zero Demands Ahead of October 27

PlayStation Network backend servers have just revealed the storage footprint for one of this fall's biggest action RPGs. With less than two weeks to go before its October 29, 2026 launch on PS5 and PC, Phantom Blade Zero weighs in at a massive 134.857 GB on Sony's console.
Uncovered through PSN database entries tracked by PlayStation Game Size, the file size arrives alongside the official preload schedule, global unlock time, and full PC hardware specifications.
134.857 GB Preload Starts October 27: The Cost of a Digital-Only PS5 Launch
PlayStation 5 owners will need to clear serious room on their internal SSD before stepping into Soul's boots. At 134.857 GB, Beijing-based developer S-GAME's Unreal Engine 5 martial arts epic claims roughly a fifth of the usable storage on a launch-model PS5.
That footprint stings even more given the game's distribution model. As S-GAME confirmed earlier this month when warning players that there is no physical PS5 edition of Phantom Blade Zero at launch, every console player must download the entire package from the PlayStation Store.
To give slower connections a fighting chance before launch day, preloading begins on October 27, 2026, exactly 48 hours ahead of the global unlock set for October 29 at 2:00 AM GMT (October 28 at 10:00 PM EDT / 7:00 PM PDT).

Standard and Deluxe Editions: Pricing and Pre-Order Bonuses
Headlining the late-month wave on our 2026 video game release calendar, Phantom Blade Zero casts players as Soul, an elite assassin serving The Order who is framed for the murder of its patriarch and given just 66 days to live as he hunts down the real conspirators.
Across the PlayStation Store, Steam, and the Epic Games Store, pre-orders are split into two digital tiers:
- Standard Edition ($59.99): includes the full base game along with two early-unlock items for pre-ordering, the Treasure Basin accessory and the Legacy outfit.
- Deluxe Edition ($69.99): includes the base game, two exclusive outfits (Wulin Legend and Blood-Steel Form), a digital art book, and the official digital soundtrack.
PC System Requirements: Mandatory SSD and Upscaling Across the Board
On PC, S-GAME keeps the CPU and GPU entry barrier approachable for mid-range rigs, but enforces two strict baseline requirements: 16 GB of RAM and a mandatory SSD installation running on DirectX 12.
Crucially, both official hardware tiers explicitly state that their resolution and framerate targets assume upscaling (such as DLSS or FSR) is turned on.

- Minimum Specifications (1080p at 30 FPS with upscaling enabled): Windows 10/11 (64-bit), Intel Core i7-8700K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600, 16 GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 (6 GB) or AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT (8 GB), DirectX 12, and SSD required.
- Recommended Specifications (1440p at 60 FPS with upscaling enabled): Windows 10/11 (64-bit), Intel Core i5-10600K or AMD Ryzen 5 5600X, 16 GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti (8 GB) or AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT (12 GB), DirectX 12, and SSD required.
My Take: When Digital-Only Meets a 135 GB Wall
When a single-player action RPG hits 134.85 GB, skipping a physical disc release stops being just a collector's grievance and becomes a practical headache. Without a Blu-ray disc to install the bulk of the data offline, anyone on a capped or modest broadband plan will need every hour of that two-day preload window starting October 27.
On the PC side, seeing an RTX 3060 Ti or RX 6700 XT listed for 1440p at 60 FPS is encouraging news for mainstream builds, even if mandatory upscaling shows once again how heavy Unreal Engine 5 remains at native resolutions. All eyes are now on October 29 to see if S-GAME's lightning-fast parry timings hold up without a hitch.
