With cmtry Blocked by VRS Rules and jabbi Out: Astralis Registers Sashi's Anlelele for the PGL CS2 Singapore Major

The administrative rollercoaster surrounding Astralis ahead of the PGL CS2 Singapore Major 2026 has taken another dramatic turn. Following Friday's report from competitive Counter-Strike insider Vladislav "Gromov" Gromov revealing that the Danish organization was practicing with Anton "Anlelele" Huynh instead of recent signing Nikita "cmtry" Samolotov, the reason behind the swap has been confirmed: Astralis has officially registered the Sashi Esport rifler as its designated substitute on the Major lineup submitted to tournament organizers.

Why Valve's VRS Rules Barred cmtry and Left Astralis Searching for a Fifth

To understand why the four-time Major-winning organization had to bring in an outside stand-in less than three weeks before play begins in Singapore, you have to rewind to late October's roster chaos. As we detailed when Astralis flew Jakob "jabbi" Nygaard back on emergency notice in Barcelona to save their CS2 Major invite, the October 13 signing of 19-year-old Russian rifler Nikita "cmtry" Samolotov from FUT Esports collided head-on with the Valve Regional Standings (VRS) rulebook.

Signed in mid-October to call the shots for Astralis, Kamil "siuhy" Szkaradek will now lead a lineup featuring Sashi stand-in Anlelele at the PGL Singapore Major.

Under Valve's VRS regulations, a team must play at least five official ranked matches with its new five-man lineup before a departing player is officially detached from its core roster. Because FUT Esports (which brought in Álvaro "SunPayus" García to replace cmtry) was eliminated from PGL Masters Bucharest after only three matches, cmtry remained legally bound to FUT's VRS core when the November 2 Major invite cutoff arrived. Since Valve strictly prohibits any player from being tied to two Major-qualified teams at the same event, cmtry is barred from competing for Astralis in Singapore.

Meanwhile, although Jakob "jabbi" Nygaard remains listed on Astralis' five-man core submission to preserve the VRS invitation he helped secure in Barcelona, the benched 23-year-old Dane is not expected to travel or play at the Major. That left Astralis with only one path forward: using its single permitted substitute slot to bring in an active fifth starter.

Enter Anton "Anlelele" Huynh: From Sashi's APAC Bid to the Astralis Jersey

To fill the void in the starting server, Astralis turned to 25-year-old Danish-Vietnamese rifler Anton "Anlelele" Huynh (who turns 26 on November 10). Competing for domestic rivals Sashi Esport, Anlelele has posted a consistent 1.04 Rating 3.0 over the past three months of official play and is already scrimming full-time with Astralis.

In an ironic twist of fate, Anlelele was recently at the center of another VRS storyline when Sashi Esport unsuccessfully attempted to pivot its regional eligibility toward the Asia-Pacific VRS circuit by leveraging his dual Danish-Vietnamese citizenship ahead of the Singapore Major qualifiers. While that maneuver fell short for Sashi, Anlelele will now walk onto the server among all 32 qualified teams competing at the PGL CS2 Singapore Major 2026 alongside Kamil "siuhy" Szkaradek, Victor "Staehr" Staehr, Gytis "ryu" Glušauskas, and Love "phzy" Smidebrant.

My Take on Astralis' Singapore Major Roster Scramble

It is genuinely wild to watch a storied organization like Astralis head into the biggest tournament of the season with a patchwork lineup all because management pulled the trigger on an October roster overhaul without accounting for how Valve's five-match VRS detachment rule could backfire if FUT exited Bucharest early. First they had to beg jabbi to fly to Barcelona to save the invite, and now their prized young signing cmtry has to watch the Major from the sidelines while Sashi's Anlelele steps in on short notice. For Anlelele, though, getting to play a Counter-Strike 2 Major under the Astralis banner with zero pressure on his shoulders is the opportunity of a lifetime.
