Pokémon Pokopia on Switch 2: Dazzling Decorations DLC Launches December 9 After November's Applin Event
After taking players beneath the waves back in August with its first expansion wave, Bubbly Basin, Pokémon Pokopia is getting ready for the holiday season on Nintendo Switch 2. The Pokémon Company, alongside co-developers Game Freak and Koei Tecmo's Omega Force studio, has officially announced that the second wave of its paid DLC, titled Expansion Pass Part 2: Dazzling Decorations, will launch on December 9, 2026, accompanied by a free version 3.0.0 software update for all players.
Matching Pokémon Accessories, New Furniture, and Returning Favorites on December 9
While the first expansion unlocked an entire underwater settlement to rebuild, Dazzling Decorations shifts the spotlight toward personal expression, fashion, and interior design. For the first time since the cozy life simulation game debuted on March 5, players can dress up their human-transformed Ditto avatar and their befriended Pokémon in matching accessories. Whether you want to outfit Squirtle in classic dark sunglasses, clip dapper bowties onto your companions, or wear ribbons modeled after Sylveon, every resident in your town can now show off a custom look.

Alongside the shared wardrobe options, Part 2 expands the crafting catalog with fresh indoor and outdoor furniture pieces and brings additional Pokémon species to befriend, including Sylveon, Skitty, Doduo, Braixen, and Goldeen. As confirmed on the official Pokémon Pokopia website, no new town will be introduced in Part 2; instead, players looking for a brand-new region to explore and renovate will find it in Expansion Pass Part 3, scheduled for 2027.
Nintendo's multi-year content roadmap comes on the heels of massive commercial momentum for the Switch 2 exclusive. According to the Nintendo Switch 2 half-year financial results through September 30, 2026, Nintendo alone has shipped 4.04 million copies outside Japan (+360,000 units during the summer quarter), while worldwide sales including The Pokémon Company's domestic Japanese publishing have already surpassed 5 million copies, representing more than 21% of all Switch 2 owners.
Version 3.0.0 Update, Withered Wasteland Requirements, and $34.99 Expansion Pass Bonuses
Priced at $34.99 on the Nintendo eShop for all three content waves, the Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass requires players to clear a few specific story milestones before diving into Dazzling Decorations when it joins the December 2026 video game release calendar:
- Mandatory Free Update: You must download and install the free version 3.0.0 software update releasing on December 9, 2026.
- Withered Wasteland Story Quests: Players need to complete the important requests "Raise the environment level!" and "Rebuild the Pokémon Center!" in the Withered Wasteland area.
- Drifloon Side Request: You must also finish Drifloon's specific request, titled "Find a doll!"
- Included Purchase Bonuses: Buying the Expansion Pass immediately grants a crafting recipe for dynamic Ditto print blocks and wallpaper, plus a Mystery Gift email code for 30 rare Pokémetal ingots if purchased before August 31, 2027 (redeemable through September 30, 2027).

Free Limited-Time "Apples to Applin" Event Runs From November 16 to December 1
Before Part 2 arrives in December, all players can jump into a free seasonal event titled "Apples to Applin." Running from November 16, 2026, at 5:00 a.m. until December 1, 2026, at 4:59 a.m. local time, the event places Applin right outside your town's Pokémon Center with a special request.
By collecting Syrupy Apples and trading them in, players can earn autumn-themed furniture and apple kitchenware. Those seasonal decorations can then be used to build specialized habitats that attract and befriend Applin's entire evolutionary family: Flapple, Appletun, Dipplin, and Hydrapple.
My Perspective
Honestly, all it took was one screenshot of Squirtle rocking a pair of cool sunglasses to make me want to boot up my Withered Wasteland save file tonight. While it is a bit of a bummer that Part 2 skips adding a brand-new town after how refreshing Bubbly Basin felt back in August, anyone who has already sunk eighty hours into perfecting their island layout knows that matching accessories with Sylveon and Braixen is going to eat up our entire December. Better yet, bridging the wait on November 16 with a free Applin event that lets us recruit Dipplin and Hydrapple shows just how well Game Freak and Omega Force understand the daily rhythm of a great cozy game on Switch 2.
