Witchbrook Launches January 28, 2027: Nintendo Switch 2, PS5 Version, $24.99 Price, and 4-Player Co-Op Revealed

Witchbrook release date January 28 2027 on Nintendo Switch 2 PS5 Xbox and PC

One of the indie scene's longest-running mysteries finally has a firm launch day on the calendar. During the Nintendo Indie World Showcase on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, publisher Chucklefish and co-developer Robotality officially announced that Witchbrook will launch on January 28, 2027 across Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PC, and Xbox (including Day One availability on Xbox Game Pass), alongside a surprise PlayStation 5 version arriving on the exact same day.

Global Launch on January 28, 2027 at $24.99 With Physical Collector's Editions Confirmed

After taking extra time over the past year to wrap up end-game balancing playtests, console porting, and localization, Chucklefish is kicking off the 2027 video game release calendar with a comprehensive multiplatform rollout. In an official statement shared on the official Witchbrook Steam page immediately following the presentation, the development team confirmed the key launch specifications:

  • Official Release Date: January 28, 2027 (unlocking on the evening of January 27 in North American time zones on Steam).
  • Day One Platforms: Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PC (Steam), Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S (available Day One with Xbox Game Pass), and a newly revealed PlayStation 5 edition developed in partnership with porting specialists playeverywhere.
  • Digital Launch Price: Priced at $24.99, featuring full localization across 10 languages at launch (English, French, German, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese).
  • Standard and Collector's Physical Editions: Both a Standard retail release and a special Collector's Edition are officially in production. They will arrive shortly after the initial digital launch so the team can keep the January release schedule on track while crafting dedicated physical extras for collectors.

Arcane Classes, "The Deadmaster," and Campus Life at Witchbrook College

Today's brand-new gameplay trailer, accompanied by an extended cut from Chucklefish, offers the deepest look yet at daily student life in the bustling coastal town of Mossport. Enrolling as the newest resident witch at Witchbrook College, players will balance rigorous academic schedules and seasonal exams with freeform exploration across the surrounding trails and docklands.

The footage highlights several previously unseen gameplay pillars, including active spellcasting mechanics, a structured studying and knowledge system, potion-making, astrology, and tarot readings. Eagle-eyed viewers also get their first look at Witchbrook College's ghostly Chancellor, affectionately nicknamed "The Deadmaster" by students, as well as curious magical creatures wandering inside an ancient stone structure hidden beyond the campus gates.

Witchbrook opens the doors of Witchbrook College in Mossport on January 28, 2027 with up to four-player online co-op.

Over 600 Customizable Furniture Pieces, Covenmate Romances, and 4-Player Online Co-Op

Outside the lecture halls, your life in Mossport revolves around a two-story woodland cottage and garden passed down by your late Aunt. While building up a fledgling witch business to earn spare change, players can visit Harbour Home in the Docklands district, a local shop run by father-and-daughter duo Justin and Violet, to browse a rotating catalog of over 600 color-swap furniture items, clutter, and knick-knacks, all accompanied by composer David Fenn's cozy soundtrack (including the newly previewed track Autumn Suite).

Building friendships and pursuing romance with your fellow students (known as covenmates) also takes center stage. Alongside returning faces like green-thumbed bachelor Leif and daydreamer Evadne, Chucklefish introduced Kiara Chandra, a sardonic, gothic post-grad student with a sharp talent for the Arcane Arts. Best of all, the entire adventure supports online co-op for up to four players, letting friends attend classes, fly on broomsticks, and explore Mossport together in a purely welcoming atmosphere that contrasts sharply with the eerie nighttime curfew of Village in the Shade on Nintendo Switch 2.

My Perspective

It has taken a full decade since Chucklefish first teased Project Spellbound back in 2016 to finally get an exact day circled on the calendar, and honestly, the pixel art craftsmanship on display makes the wait worthwhile. Every street corner in Mossport looks absurdly alive, and having native Nintendo Switch 2 support, a surprise Day One PS5 version, and Xbox Game Pass inclusion right out of the gate ensures nobody gets left out. Even better, pricing a massive four-player co-op life-sim with over 600 customizable furniture pieces at a fair $24.99 shows real respect for a community that has patiently waited years to enroll at Witchbrook College.
