TMNT: Splintered Fate Legendary Edition Hits Nintendo Switch 2 Physically With All 8 Fighters on the Cartridge, 4K at 60 FPS, and Release Dates

After surpassing 1.5 million players worldwide across all platforms, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate is getting its ultimate retail treatment. Developer Super Evil Megacorp, in partnership with Paramount Game Studios and physical publisher Nighthawk Interactive, has launched the Legendary Edition at retail for the Nintendo Switch 2. Designed as the complete package for the fast-paced co-op roguelike, this physical edition bundles the native Nintendo Switch 2 version of the base game with every major expansion, DLC fighter, and content update released to date.
The physical edition hit North American store shelves (United States and Canada) on October 27, 2026 for $49.99, while players across Europe and the UK (EFIGS regions) will be able to pick up their boxed copies starting November 17, 2026 for €49.99.
All 8 Playable Fighters and DLC Expansions Loaded on the Cartridge
For physical media collectors, the standout feature of the Legendary Edition is what sits inside the case: rather than relying on a Game-Key Card or a single-use download voucher for its add-ons, the entire package is loaded directly onto the Nintendo Switch 2 cartridge. Much like the recent all-on-cartridge physical release of Layers of Fear on Nintendo Switch 2, players can plug in the game card and access all expansions right out of the box.
Alongside the four core brothers (Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo), four additional DLC characters bring the total roster to eight playable fighters on the cartridge:
- Casey Jones (Casey Jones & the Junkyard Jam Expansion): The hockey-mask-wearing vigilante enters the fray with a hard-hitting street combat style, accompanied by the Punk Frog-infested Junkyard stage, new boss encounters, and a dedicated storyline.
- Slash: A towering melee powerhouse, this fan-favorite mutant turtle relies on raw brawn, devastating claw strikes, heavy body slams, and massive knockbacks to tear through the Foot Clan.
- Alopex: The mutant arctic fox and former Foot assassin wields dual kama blades with lethal speed, channeling arctic-storm abilities to freeze and slice through enemy waves.
- Metalhead: Built as the roster's first fully ranged specialist, the robotic turtle controls the battlefield from afar with laser fire and high-tech weaponry.

4K at 60 FPS, GameShare Support, Arcade Mode, and Digital Art Book
Beyond the expanded character roster, the cartridge comes pre-loaded with every free post-launch update deployed by Super Evil Megacorp. Players get immediate access to the high-octane Arcade Mode with custom run modifiers, as well as the endgame trials introduced in the Rat King's Thin Place (from the King's Gambit update).
Under the hood, the Nintendo Switch 2 version takes full advantage of the console's hardware to deliver up to 4K resolution at 60 frames per second in docked mode, paired with sharper textures and revamped lighting across New York City's rooftops and sewers. On the multiplayer front, four-player drop-in/drop-out co-op supports both built-in GameChat and GameShare, allowing friends to join a local or online session even if they do not own a separate copy of the game.
Rounding out the package is a Digital Art Book offering a behind-the-scenes look at the adventure penned by legendary IDW Publishing comic writer Tom Waltz and creative director Kevin Michael Johnson, packed with early character sketches, concept art, and environmental designs.
My Perspective
I have to give credit where it is due: in an era where far too many third-party publishers slap a download code or a barebones Game-Key Card inside a $50 plastic box, seeing Super Evil Megacorp and Nighthawk Interactive put the base game and all four DLC characters directly onto the Nintendo Switch 2 cartridge is a breath of fresh air. TMNT: Splintered Fate was already one of the punchiest Hades-style co-op roguelikes on the market, and having Casey Jones, Slash, Alopex, and Metalhead baked onto the cart alongside 4K 60 FPS visuals and single-copy GameShare makes this a genuinely preservation-friendly release. If you held off on double-dipping until a complete physical edition arrived on Switch 2, this is how a definitive edition should be done.
