TES 6: Sentinel Officially Announced by Todd Howard: New Logo, Alik'r Sands, and Moth Priest Prophecy

The wait has lasted exactly 8 years, 4 months, and 23 days, or 3,067 days since the brief mountain flyover first shown at E3 2018. On Tuesday, November 3, 2026, during a special video address celebrating the 40th anniversary of Bethesda Game Studios, longtime franchise director Todd Howard officially unveiled the full title and logo for the sixth mainline chapter in the legendary fantasy series: the game is officially titled The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel. Just as we warned you last week in our columns, the late-October leak we reported has now been 100% confirmed.

A 40th Anniversary Milestone Ahead of Skyrim's 15th Birthday

In a retrospective video looking back at four decades of world-building on Bethesda's official The Elder Scrolls portal, spanning the studio's early sports and sci-fi projects to defining RPGs like Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout, and Skyrim, Todd Howard chose to mark the occasion just days before the fifteenth anniversary of the fifth installment. Noting that The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim remains Bethesda Game Studios' most played game of all time by total lifetime players, Howard declared that the 40-year milestone was "the perfect time to tell you what The Elder Scrolls 6 is actually called."

Today's formal reveal validates every detail of last week's report pointing to the Sentinel subtitle and November announcement window, while also confirming the cryptic hint dropped late this summer by Xbox CEO Asha Sharma. After playing an internal build of the RPG during an August visit to Bethesda's offices, Sharma had teased the subtitle on social media using eight asterisks, matching the exact eight-letter spelling of Sentinel.

Alik'r Sand Physics, an Elder Scroll Artifact, and the Prophecy of Moth Priest Yazar

Beyond the weathered metallic lettering of the new logo, the dedicated name reveal teaser released by Bethesda Softworks delivers a telling technical and narrative glimpse into the game. The footage highlights detailed sand physics sweeping across golden dunes to uncover an ornate Elder Scroll set with a glowing blue gemstone and etched golden filaments.

Even more revealing is a new in-universe quote featured in the teaser, attributed to Yazar, Moth Priest of High Queen Iradne of Hammerfell:

"The scroll offered only a shimmer, a veil thinly lifted to my eyes. A future lost. A victory undone. Sands of time scattered by fate."

That single passage locks in the province of Hammerfell, homeland of the Redguards located west of Cyrodiil and southwest of Skyrim, as the core setting on the continent of Tamriel. Specifically, Sentinel is the grand royal port city situated on Hammerfell's northwest coast along the Iliac Bay, looking across the water toward High Rock while bordering the vast Alik'r Desert and the Abacean Sea. Tying a Moth Priest directly to Hammerfell's royal court also confirms that the central narrative will delve deeply into the ancient prophecies and mysterious origins of the Elder Scrolls themselves.

When Will We See Full Gameplay and a Release Window?

Why did it take more than 100 months for Bethesda to share the official subtitle? Both Todd Howard and former Skyrim lead designer Bruce Nesmith have previously acknowledged that the 2018 announcement teaser was released early to assure fans that single-player RPGs remained at the heart of the studio's roadmap, even though Howard has long favored keeping marketing campaigns as close to launch as possible, much like the rollout for Fallout 4.

Following the studio's full production shift and the transition of over a hundred Bethesda developers onto the project pointing toward a late 2027 target after wrapping up major work on Starfield, development is now moving ahead at full scale for Xbox and PC. With the Sentinel banner officially raised this November, attention now turns to The Game Awards 2026 on December 10 and next summer's Xbox Games Showcase in June 2027 for the first extended look at in-game exploration and combat.
