Rouge, E-123 Omega, and 8-Player Spin Dash Co-Op: Sonic Pico Park Reunites Team Dark Ahead of November 12 Launch

With less than three weeks remaining before launch, the cooperative action-puzzle crossover between SEGA and Japanese indie studio TECOPARK continues to expand its playable cast. During the debut episode of the official YouTube program PICO MART: Now Open at Sonic Speed! on October 23, 2026, the developers officially revealed that Rouge the Bat and E-123 Omega are joining Sonic Pico Park. Alongside Shadow the Hedgehog, who was confirmed during June's anniversary livestream, the iconic Team Dark trio first assembled in Sonic Heroes is now fully reunited ahead of the game's November 12, 2026 release.
Flight Mechanics for Rouge and Heavy-Duty Stages for E-123 Omega
True to the core formula of the Pico Park series, every 2D stage challenges groups of 2 to 8 players to coordinate their movements, stack on top of each other, retrieve the stage key, and reach the Goal Plate on the far right of the screen. While this crossover grants every single character access to Sonic's signature Spin Dash, individual heroes also bring distinct traversal traits to the puzzle design.
The new character reveal footage highlights how the two newcomers divide responsibilities across cooperative stages:
- Rouge the Bat (Standard Playable Roster): Added directly to the main character selection screen, the treasure hunter can fly through the air. Much like Miles "Tails" Prower and Cream the Rabbit, Rouge can hover across wide hazards, carry teammates stacked on her head, and trigger high switches that regular jumps cannot reach.
- E-123 Omega (Stage-Specific Large Character): Following the model introduced with Big the Cat at Tokyo Game Show 2026, Eggman's heavily armed E-Series robot joins the game's special class of large characters. Because of his massive frame and strength, Omega cannot be freely picked on every level; instead, he is deployed on specific stages whose puzzles are built around using a heavy unit to support multiple players or clear oversized obstacles.
A Packed 35th Anniversary Roster Requested by Takashi Iizuka
The steady rollout of fan-favorite characters stems directly from Sonic Team leadership. As producer Shintaro Shimazu explained during the Tokyo Game Show broadcast in September, Sonic series head Takashi Iizuka personally asked TECOPARK to include as many characters from the franchise's history as possible to celebrate the 35th anniversary of Sonic the Hedgehog. Following Shadow's recent appearance in Sonic Racing CrossWorlds, this cooperative spin-off trades high-stakes rivalry for chaotic couch and online teamwork.

With today's announcement, the confirmed lineup for Sonic Pico Park spans eleven recognizable SEGA faces alongside TECOPARK's original mascots:
- Core Heroes: Sonic the Hedgehog, Tails, Knuckles the Echidna, and Amy Rose.
- Team Dark Reunited: Shadow the Hedgehog, Rouge the Bat, and E-123 Omega (featured as a large character on select stages).
- Future and Sol Dimension Duo: Silver the Hedgehog and Blaze the Cat, revealed earlier in October and featured in the playable demo at New York's CLUB CHAOS event.
- Tokyo Game Show Additions: Cream the Rabbit with Cheese, alongside Big the Cat (featured as a large character).
- Pico Park Cast: The classic multicolored Pico Cats in eight color variants plus the special Sonic Pico Cat costume.
Full 8-Player Cross-Play, Rail Grinding, and November 12 Release Details
Alongside Rings, loops, and springboards woven into the cooperative puzzles, new screenshots shared around the debut of PICO MART (hosted by a fictional convenience store manager Blue PICO CAT, voiced by comedian Takuya Tani, alongside actress Airi Hiruta) also confirmed rail grinding. One stage preview shows Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, and Shadow grinding across twin rails with sparks flying beneath their shoes, adding synchronized momentum challenges to the traditional puzzle-platforming formula.
