Petit Planet: HoYoverse's Free-to-Play Cosmic Animal Crossing Rival Launches December 4 on PC and Mobile

Petit Planet HoYoverse December 4 release

While Nintendo continues to keep quiet about the next mainline installment in its flagship island series, HoYoverse is stepping straight into the cozy life-simulation arena. The studio behind Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail has officially announced that Petit Planet will launch globally on December 4, 2026, as a free-to-play title across PC, iOS, and Android.

Shaping Your Own Miniature Planet With Luca and Fuzzy Neighbors

In Petit Planet, every player becomes a Planet Tender looking after their own miniature world floating in deep space. Powered by Luca, the planet's core vitality, you can freely sculpt the terrain, reshape coastlines, customize vegetation, and even alter the colors of the sky above your home.

Daily life revolves around relaxing, familiar routines with a cosmic twist: harvesting curious crops, fishing, catching bugs, cooking new recipes, and beachcombing along the shore at low tide as playful sprites pop up around your feet.

Beachcombing, fishing, and shoreline foraging form the heart of everyday life in Petit Planet.

Your little asteroid quickly fills with life as you invite Fuzzy Neighbors wandering the cosmos to settle down. By lending them a hand, sharing homemade meals, and exchanging gifts, you connect their personal planetoids to yours and unlock their individual stories.

Starsea Voyages and the Multiplayer Galactic Bazaar

Whenever you feel like venturing beyond your backyard, you can board your vehicle alongside your fuzzy companions for Starsea Voyages. Sailing across the Starsea lets you chart unknown islets, gather rare crafting materials, and encounter unusual creatures.

On the social front, HoYoverse is introducing the Galactic Bazaar, a permanent multiplayer hub where Planet Tenders from around the world gather beneath the stars. Refined following player feedback from the closed Coziness Test betas, this plaza lets friends trade items, hang out around campfires, and jump into rhythm mini-games, offering a sci-fi twist for cozy gaming fans who have also been tracking the Harvest Moon: Echoes of Teradea DLC roadmap.

December 1 Pre-Load, Platforms, and Pre-Registration Rewards

Petit Planet launches as a free download on December 4, 2026, for PC (via the Epic Games Store and HoYoverse's standalone client), iOS (App Store), and Android (Google Play) with cross-platform support, securing a standout spot on our December 2026 game release calendar.

To help players jump in as soon as servers go live, pre-loading begins on December 1, 2026. Pre-registrations are currently open on the official Petit Planet website, unlocking global milestone rewards at launch including the Sproutling Outfit and the Bestie Star-Light decoration.

My Perspective

After years of waiting for a fresh excuse to shake trees, collect seashells, and pay off a mortgage to a raccoon, HoYoverse could not have picked a better window to drop its own pocket-sized planet.

I am eager to see whether the free-to-play monetization stays out of the way of peaceful late-night fishing sessions and campfire chats at the Galactic Bazaar, because the spherical diorama art style already has everything it takes to pull me in on December 4.
