Mystery Gift Spewpa, 16 Random Vivillon Patterns, and 660,000-Point Challenge: How to Claim All Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Pokémon Champions Rewards

Butterfly collectors across Lumiose City have a massive global event to tackle starting today. To celebrate the October 29, 2026 physical and digital release of Pokémon Legends: Z-A (Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Mega Dimension), The Pokémon Company and Game Freak have launched three connected campaigns at once: an online Mystery Gift distribution for a special Spewpa that evolves into one of 16 regional Vivillon patterns otherwise unobtainable in the wild, a global 660,000-point Vivillon Challenge to unlock the coveted Poké Ball Pattern Vivillon, and a cross-game reward campaign with Pokémon Champions via Pokémon HOME.

How to Claim the Mystery Gift Spewpa Before November 18

During standard gameplay in Lumiose City and its Wild Zones (such as Wild Zone 4 where wild Scatterbug and Spewpa spawn), players can only naturally obtain three regional Vivillon patterns: the Meadow Pattern, the Garden Pattern, and the Marine Pattern (tied to the Lumiose Museum side mission). To help Trainers expand their pattern collection, a special promotional Spewpa is being distributed via the internet starting Thursday, October 29, 2026, through Wednesday, November 18, 2026, at 5:59 p.m. PST (November 19 at 01:59 UTC).

No serial code or password is required to claim it. Once you have completed Main Mission 3 ("A New Life in Lumiose City") to unlock online features roughly an hour into the story, follow these steps on your Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch 2:

  • Press the X button to open your main menu and select Link Play.
  • Select Mystery Gift from the Link Play menu.
  • Choose Get via Internet while connected to an active internet connection.
  • Select the special Spewpa gift to add it directly to your party or Boxes (your game will save automatically).

Level 11 Stats and All 16 Possible Random Vivillon Patterns

The Mystery Gift Spewpa arrives at Level 11 with your own Original Trainer (OT) name and ID, no held item, a random Nature, and a starting moveset of Tackle, String Shot, Protect, and Stun Spore. Because Spewpa evolves into Vivillon starting at Level 12, leveling it up just once in battle or with Exp. Candy will immediately trigger its evolution.

When evolved, this promotional Spewpa has an equally weighted chance (1 in 16, or 6.25%) of turning into one of the 16 Vivillon patterns that cannot be caught in the wild across Lumiose City:

The Global Vivillon Challenge: 660,000 Points for the Poké Ball Pattern

Alongside the individual Mystery Gift, The Pokémon Company has kicked off the global "Spread Your Wings for the Vivillon Challenge!" community event. Every time a player connected to the internet evolves any Spewpa into Vivillon in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, it contributes to the global "Vivillon Points" counter on the official event website. All Spewpa evolutions count toward the total, including the Mystery Gift Spewpa, wild Spewpa caught in Wild Zone 4, and those befriended during side missions.

Once the global community reaches the milestone target of 660,000 Vivillon Points (a nod to Vivillon's #0666 National Pokédex number), all players will unlock a future distribution of the ultra-rare Poké Ball Pattern Vivillon. There is no strict end date for reaching the 660,000-point goal, and distribution details for the Poké Ball Pattern reward will be shared as soon as the community clears the milestone.

How to Get 666 VP and the Vivillon Icon in Pokémon Champions

Competitive battlers also get a dedicated crossover bonus. Running from Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at 11:00 p.m. PDT (October 29 at 06:00 UTC) until Saturday, January 30, 2027, at 6:59 a.m. PST (14:59 UTC), bringing a Vivillon from Pokémon Legends: Z-A into Pokémon Champions unlocks a bundle of in-game rewards on both Nintendo Switch and mobile devices:

  • Catch or evolve any Vivillon in Pokémon Legends: Z-A (any pattern qualifies).
  • Deposit that Vivillon into Pokémon HOME.
  • Transfer or bring that Vivillon to visit Pokémon Champions via Pokémon HOME connectivity to claim a Meadow Pattern Vivillon Trainer Icon, 6 Training Tickets, and 666 VP (Victory Points, matching Vivillon's #0666 Pokédex entry).

This multi-game celebration lands on the exact same day as the all-in-one physical cartridge and digital bundle for Nintendo Switch 2 players expanding their late-October library, packing the enhanced base game and the Hoopa-focused Mega Dimension expansion together. In addition, Ranked Battle Season 19 of the Z-A Battle Club (restricted to Lumiose starter Pokémon and Wild Zone 1 species) and the 114-track Pokémon Legends: Z-A soundtrack on the Nintendo Music app have both gone live today, while Pokémon Champions prepares for its upcoming Mega Evolution Battle online competition (registration open November 6 to November 16, 2026).

My Perspective

Anyone who survived the Nintendo 3DS GTS trading frenzy back in the Pokémon X and Y era knows just how addictive and maddening hunting down all 20 Vivillon patterns can be. Having Lumiose City locked to just three native patterns in Pokémon Legends: Z-A felt like a missed opportunity for form collectors, so handing out a Level 11 Spewpa ready to evolve after a single level into one of the 16 missing patterns is a clever fix, even if the 6.25% random roll per pattern means trading boards are about to get very busy.

The real prize here, however, is undoubtedly the Poké Ball Pattern Vivillon waiting at the end of the 660,000-point rainbow. Outside of rare legacy distributions dating back to 2014, that specific pattern has remained one of the hardest living-Pokédex entries to secure legitimately. Giving the entire community a straightforward way to earn it just by evolving wild Spewpa from Wild Zone 4, paired with a cheeky 666 VP payout in Pokémon Champions, makes jumping back into Lumiose City this week an easy call.
