3 Season Passes for $29.99, Rollback Netcode, and Cross-Play: Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves Launches on Nintendo Switch 2

The neon-lit streets of South Town are officially open for portable brawls. Launching today, Thursday, October 22, 2026, on the Nintendo eShop, Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves makes its debut on Nintendo Switch 2 with an aggressive pricing strategy led by SNK Corporation.
Rather than charging full retail price for a late-arriving port, the Osaka publisher is offering two distinct digital packages. The Standard Edition launches at $19.99 / €19.99 with the complete base game, while the Starter Edition is priced at $29.99 / €29.99 and bundles the base game together with Season Passes 1, 2, and 3.
Three Full Season Passes Bundled into the $29.99 Starter Edition
For just ten dollars more than the base release, the Starter Edition unlocks eighteen post-launch DLC fighters added since the game's original April 2025 debut. Alongside the core roster led by Rock Howard, Terry Bogard, Preecha, and B. Jenet, players immediately gain access to three full waves of seasonal characters at no extra charge.
Season Pass 1 brings five fan-favorite fighters combining SNK legends and blockbuster Capcom crossovers: Andy Bogard, Joe Higashi, Mr. Big, and Street Fighter icons Ken Masters and Chun-Li. Season Pass 2 expands the lineup with six additional warriors, featuring Kim Jae Hoon, Nightmare Geese, Blue Mary, Wolfgang Krauser, Mr. Karate, and guest fighter Kenshiro from Fist of the North Star.

Currently rolling out through late 2026, Season Pass 3 is also included in the $29.99 package. It grants immediate access to Rick Strowd, Duck King, and Kim Kaphwan, alongside this month's Tokyo Revengers crossover duo Manjiro "Mikey" Sano and Ken "Draken" Ryuguji, ahead of Laocorn in November and Tekken guest fighter Reina in December 2026.
Today's October 22 update also introduces paid classic costume DLC for Mai Shiranui and Terry Bogard (featuring his iconic red vest and cap), priced at $2.99 each. Players who preordered the digital version on the Nintendo eShop receive Mai Shiranui's classic kunoichi outfit as an included bonus, while physical collectors can look forward to a boxed Game-Key Card release of the Starter Edition on January 21, 2027.
REV System, Smart Style Controls, and Full Cross-Play on Switch 2
Weighing in at 30.27 GB on the Nintendo eShop, the Nintendo Switch 2 edition preserves the full competitive feature set across TV, tabletop, and handheld modes. From day one, the port features rollback netcode and full cross-play across PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and the Epic Games Store, supporting online lobbies for up to twelve players.

To accommodate both arcade sticks and portable sessions, SNK includes two distinct control schemes. Arcade Style retains traditional four-button technical inputs for series veterans, while Smart Style streamlines special moves and flashy combos on Joy-Con 2 controllers while keeping full access to the offensive REV System (REV Arts, REV Accel, REV Blows, and REV Guard) right from the opening bell.
Solo players can also dive into the RPG-inspired Episodes of South Town (EOST) mode, leveling up fighters across the city map and unlocking custom skills, including a dedicated crossover storyline where Mikey and Draken team up with Terry Bogard against Wolfgang Krauser to rescue Rock Howard. Its arrival rounds out a strong week for classic arcade DNA on Nintendo's new console alongside Ace Driver: Victory Lap and The Raiden Project on Switch 2 and PS5.
My Perspective: The Smart Pricing Blueprint Switch 2 Ports Needed
Seeing a legacy fighting game studio like SNK step onto Nintendo Switch 2 eighteen months after the original launch and hand players the base game plus three entire Season Passes for $29.99 is a refreshing move. At a time when several late multiplatform ports arrive at full price or spark visual debates like the Monster Hunter Wilds demo on Nintendo Switch 2, this Starter Edition removes the entry barrier for newcomers overnight.
Being able to lab combos in handheld mode or jump into rollback-backed cross-play matches before docking the console to the living room TV makes Nintendo's hybrid hardware a natural home for City of the Wolves. The digital version is live now on the eShop, with the physical Starter Edition following on January 21, 2027.
