BAKUDO Announced for Nintendo Switch 2 and Steam in 2027: 10 Days to Defeat Soliris Academy's Stellar Eight

Publisher Shueisha Games and indie studio SAYIL GAMES took the stage during the October 2026 Nintendo Indie World showcase to officially announce that BAKUDO is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 alongside its PC (Steam) release in 2027. Accompanied by the brand-new Welcome to BAKUDO Academy! trailer, the reveal offered a closer look at life inside Soliris Academy and the game's high-speed cel-shaded boss battles.
Soliris Academy, Yuria, and a Ten-Day Ultimatum Against the Stellar Eight
In the sci-fi world of BAKUDO, strength on the court dictates everything. Players step into the shoes of Yuria, a fierce newcomer enrolling in the Coreball Department at the prestigious Soliris Academy, where elite athletes compete for the title of top Corestriker. Rather than chasing championship trophies, Yuria enters the school following the only clue left behind by her missing father.
Her academic career nearly ends before it begins when she breaks the rules during her entrance exam to rescue a fellow examinee in danger, prompting the faculty to revoke her admission on the spot. That is when Aria steps in. Standing atop the school's hierarchy as the calm, undisputed number-one member of the Stellar Eight, Aria issues Yuria a near-impossible trial: defeat all eight of the academy's top-ranked champions within ten days, or leave Soliris Academy forever.
Backed by her witty partner Evie, a genius inventor and upperclassman from the Support Department, Yuria races against the ten-day deadline while uncovering a hidden conspiracy behind the academy's glittering reputation that threatens the fate of the entire world.
Where Rule-Free Ball-Sport Combat Meets Real-Time Boss-Rush Action
Rather than playing like a traditional sports simulator, SAYIL GAMES has built BAKUDO as a fast-paced, real-time boss-rush action game that blends martial arts with rule-free, high-impact dodgeball combat. Inside the arena, the ball functions as a lethal projectile weapon driven by dynamic throwing techniques, split-second catches, parries, and close-quarters counters.
Each member of the Stellar Eight fights with a completely distinct combat style and signature moveset, ensuring no two boss encounters play out the same way. Victory requires reading each opponent's attack patterns, dodging multi-phase barrages, and striking back during narrow recovery windows to shatter their defenses.

2027 Launch on Nintendo Switch 2 and PC, Language Support, and Steam Demo
The reveal further expands Shueisha Games' growing lineup for Nintendo's newest hybrid hardware, arriving in the same week the publisher rolls out Nintendo Switch 2 Editions for Urban Myth Dissolution Center and Schrödinger's Call. When BAKUDO launches in 2027 on Nintendo Switch 2 and PC via Steam, it will feature full localization across English, Japanese, French, German, Spanish, Korean, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese.

My Perspective
Turning rule-free dodgeball into a high-stakes martial arts boss-rush wrapped in an over-the-top sci-fi school anime aesthetic is an immediately infectious hook. The premise of taking down eight ranked student council-style bosses in ten days taps straight into the best kinetic anime tropes, where every duel feels like a season finale.
Bringing BAKUDO to Nintendo Switch 2 makes this announcement even better. Tight, pattern-driven boss rush games thrive on handheld hardware when you want to jump in for a quick twenty-minute duel, and pairing SAYIL GAMES' crisp cel-shaded animation with responsive performance on Switch 2 should make Soliris Academy's arenas a blast to conquer in 2027.
