The Wolf Among Us Remastered Launches on PS5, Xbox, and PC: 5 Playable Deleted Scenes, Noir Mode, and Up to 50% Off

Bigby Wolf inside the neon-lit Pudding & Pie club in The Wolf Among Us Remastered

Thirteen years after his first patrol through the neon-drenched back alleys of a clandestine New York neighborhood, Sheriff Bigby Wolf is officially back on the beat. Telltale Games has launched The Wolf Among Us Remastered today, October 29, 2026, across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Accompanied by a hard-hitting launch trailer from Xbox and PlayStation, this definitive edition goes beyond a simple resolution bump by restoring five playable sequences cut from the original 2013 production and laying the groundwork for the long-awaited 2027 sequel.

Native 4K at 60 FPS and a Dedicated Noir Mode Built for Fabletown

Adapted from Bill Willingham's award-winning Fables comic series published by DC Vertigo, Telltale's gritty detective thriller was beginning to show its age on modern displays despite its unmistakable cel-shaded art direction. Headlining this week's biggest console and PC releases, the studio rebuilt all five episodes of the first season on a modernized evolution of its internal engine to deliver native 4K resolution paired with a smooth 60 FPS performance target.

Character models for Bigby Wolf, Snow White, Georgie Porgie, Toad, and Grendel have been completely redrawn from scratch to eliminate the muddy textures of the PS3 and Xbox 360 era while staying faithful to the heavy ink lines of the source comics. The most dramatic leap comes from the overhauled dynamic lighting system: the pink and blue neon signs inside the Pudding & Pie club, the cigarette smoke curling through the Woodlands office, and the rain-slicked pavement at night now carry far greater depth and contrast.

The standout visual addition is the all-new Noir Mode. With a single button press at any moment during gameplay, you can toggle the entire story into a striking, high-contrast black-and-white monochrome presentation inspired by classic 1940s detective cinema. Because the switch happens instantaneously without loading screens, players can freely alternate between the vibrant 1980s neon palette and pure pulp-noir shadows during any interrogation or crime scene investigation.

Five Playable Deleted Scenes and Choice Carryover to The Wolf Among Us 2

Beyond the technical facelift, Telltale Games dug deep into its production archives to recover content left on the cutting room floor thirteen years ago. Rather than relegating these findings to static video galleries, the remaster restores five fully playable deleted scenes alongside roughly an hour of developer commentary, interviews, and concept art:

  • Episode 1 (Faith): Restores an early Street Investigation sequence where Bigby and Faith must scramble to hide incriminating evidence from the Woodsman brawl before patrol cars arrive, as well as a cut Questioning Beauty interrogation scene.
  • Episode 2 (Smoke & Mirrors): Adds a previously cut playable sequence set inside the municipal Police Station.
  • Episode 5 (Cry Wolf): Integrates the Snow in Charge segment focusing on Snow White's leadership along with structural pieces from an extended ending sequence.

This release also serves as a direct narrative bridge to the future of the franchise. By signing into a Telltale Account from the main menu, your moral decisions and the way Fabletown's citizens fear or trust Bigby are backed up online, allowing you to carry your choices directly into The Wolf Among Us 2 when the sequel arrives in 2027, set six months after the events of the original season.

Launch Pricing, 50% Loyalty Upgrade Discounts, and the PS5 Catch

Carrying a standard retail price of $24.99 / €24.99, The Wolf Among Us Remastered launches with a tiered promotional structure valid from today through November 12, 2026. Depending on your platform and how you acquired the original game, the final price varies significantly:

  • New Player Launch Discount (20% Off): Drops the price to $19.99 automatically on Steam, the Epic Games Store, and the Xbox Store. On the PlayStation Store (PS5), however, this 20% introductory discount is restricted exclusively to active PlayStation Plus subscribers.
  • Returning Owner Loyalty Upgrade (50% Off): Players who already own the digital 2013 original on the same account and platform family (Steam, Epic Games Store, PS4 digital, or Xbox One digital) qualify for half off, bringing the upgrade down to roughly $12.49 / €12.50.
  • PlayStation Plus Monthly Games and Physical Disc Exceptions: On PlayStation, users who claimed the original title through a past PlayStation Plus monthly lineup rather than a direct purchase receive a 30% discount instead of the full 50%. Additionally, physical disc owners cannot be automatically verified by digital storefronts for the loyalty discount.

As for other formats, Telltale recently delayed the Nintendo Switch version to a later date to ensure proper performance, while physical retail editions are slated for early 2027. On PC, hardware requirements remain remarkably approachable: an Intel Core i3-8100 or AMD Ryzen 3 2300X paired with 8 GB of RAM and a GeForce GTX 1050 Ti (4 GB) or Radeon RX 6400 is all it takes to run high settings at 1080p and 60 FPS on Windows 11, with console file sizes hovering around 18 GB.

My Perspective

I think Telltale is playing a much smarter hand here than a lazy cash-grab port. Let's be real: asking fans who have waited over a decade for Season 2 to buy the first game all over again could have easily backfired if the studio had simply unlocked the framerate and called it a day. By actually restoring five playable deleted scenes from 2013,complete with developer commentary explaining why sequences like Bigby and Faith hiding evidence from the cops were originally cut, this package feels like a genuine director's cut. At $12.49 with the 50% loyalty discount on the same storefront, stepping back into Fabletown in native 4K and testing out the one-button Noir Mode while locking in a cloud save for 2027 is an easy recommendation. My only real gripe is the PlayStation Store paywalling the standard 20% newcomer discount behind a PlayStation Plus subscription when Steam and Xbox players get it with zero strings attached.
