Breath of Fire, Demon's Crest, and Mega Man: 29 Classic NES and Super Nintendo Capcom Games Just Got Rated in South Korea

A massive wave of 8-bit and 16-bit console classics is getting ready to leave the vault in Osaka. South Korean publisher and distributor Gamepia, Capcom's official local partner, has registered a batch of 29 retro games with South Korea's GRAC (Game Rating and Administration Committee). Unlike previous retro collections centered strictly around arcade cabinets, this new batch targets home console releases from the golden era of the NES and Super Nintendo.

This large-scale filing aligns directly with the publisher's aggressive back-catalog strategy, arriving right as Capcom's record H1 financial results driven by 36.86 million games sold highlight the massive profitability of digital legacy releases.

From Breath of Fire to Demon's Crest: Why This Batch Differs From Arcade Compilations

Until now, modular hubs like Capcom Arcade Stadium and its sequel focused exclusively on arcade ROMs from the CPS-1 and CPS-2 eras. In contrast, the 29 titles filed by Gamepia with the GRAC feature numerous games that never had arcade counterparts and were built specifically for 8-bit and 16-bit home consoles.

Standouts include the classic role-playing entries Breath of Fire and Breath of Fire II, the gothic Super Nintendo action platformer Demon's Crest (alongside its 8-bit predecessor Gargoyle's Quest II), and the console-exclusive sequels Final Fight 2 and Final Fight 3. Even rarer deep cuts that frequently miss modern anthologies are on the list: the sports spin-off Mega Man Soccer, the chibi brawler Mighty Final Fight, the sci-fi action spin-off Street Fighter 2010: The Final Fight, and the Three Kingdoms tactical RPG Destiny of an Emperor.

Because each of the 29 games was submitted and rated individually rather than under a single omnibus title, two main possibilities stand out: a modular storefront modeled after Capcom Arcade Stadium (where players can buy individual console ROMs or themed packs) or a new retro console collection headed to modern consoles and PC.

Full List of All 29 Classic Capcom Games Rated by South Korea's GRAC

Notably, 23 of these 29 titles match the exact lineup of NES and Super Nintendo classics that Capcom temporarily made playable on its Capcom Town museum website for Tokyo Game Show. The 6 brand-new additions included in this Korean rating batch are Commando, Final Fight 2, Final Fight 3, Knights of the Round, Mega Man 5, and Saturday Night Slam Masters.

Here is the complete, numbered list of all 29 games individually rated by the GRAC in alphabetical order, along with their original home console platform and release year:

My Perspective

Having Demon's Crest, Mighty Final Fight, and the first two Breath of Fire games surface on an official rating board is enough to make any 8-bit and 16-bit collector sit up straight. Anyone who has looked up secondhand cartridge prices for Demon's Crest or Mega Man Soccer lately knows how badly these console-exclusive gems needed a proper modern release outside of the usual Street Fighter II reruns we have all bought five times over. Everything now comes down to how Capcom packages them: if we get a "Console Stadium" hub where we can grab individual favorites for a couple of dollars with clean CRT shaders and rewind features, I am all in, provided Capcom resists the urge to lock the rarest RPGs behind overpriced bundle walls.
