Satisfactory Crossplay Goes Live Across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S: Why Dedicated Servers and Mods Are Excluded in Patch 1.2.5.0

Exactly one year after launching on consoles on November 5, 2025, Coffee Stain Studios has officially torn down the wall separating its player base. With the release of Patch v1.2.5.0 (Build 517554), Satisfactory now features full crossplay across PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. FICSIT Pioneers can finally jump into the same co-op sessions to build sprawling mega-factories, automate conveyor networks, and explore MASSAGE-2(A-B)b together regardless of their hardware. However, this cross-platform milestone comes with important technical rules regarding dedicated servers, mods, and save file management.

How to Set Up Crossplay Across Steam, Epic, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S

To connect all four platforms seamlessly, Coffee Stain Studios relies on the Epic Online Services (EOS) backend. As detailed in the official Steam patch notes and the official Satisfactory support FAQ, single-player mode never requires an external account. However, hosting or joining any cross-platform multiplayer session (or playing co-op on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S) requires linking a free Epic Games account.

The setup process is built directly into the game's interface so console and PC players can get started quickly:

  • In-Game Account Creation and Linking: head to the Online Settings menu from the title screen to log into an existing Epic Games account or create a brand-new one directly from inside the game.
  • Cross-Platform Friends List: for a friend's session to appear in the Join Game menu, both players must have linked their platform profiles (Steam, PlayStation, or Xbox) to their Epic accounts and added each other as friends on both their native platform and Epic Games.
  • Steam-Only Matchmaking Option: PC players on Steam who prefer not to use Epic Online Services can still opt to restrict their multiplayer sessions exclusively to the Steam backend with other Steam users.

If your co-op squad also enjoys first-person planetary automation and survival builders, keep in mind that The Planet Crafter: Magnetaris DLC launches on December 8 with a free Steam playtest available right now.

Dedicated Servers, Mods, and Saves: 3 Key Limitations in Patch 1.2.5.0

While uniting PC and console engineers was one of the community's most requested features over the past twelve months, there are three major technical caveats you need to know before planning a multi-platform mega-project:

  • No Dedicated Servers During Crossplay: Dedicated Servers remain strictly PC-only right now and are not supported in crossplay sessions. Mixed PC-and-console co-op relies entirely on player-hosted sessions. For PC groups looking for 24/7 server hosting, Coffee Stain Studios also announced an official partnership with Indifferent Broccoli following their work on community-driven Coffee Cup Studios events.
  • Unmodded (Vanilla) Sessions Only: multiplayer in Satisfactory requires every participant in a lobby to run the exact same mod configuration. Because PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S do not support mods, only unmodded sessions can engage in crossplay.
  • No Cross-Progression (Cross-Save): Patch 1.2.5.0 enables live cross-platform multiplayer, not cross-progression. Save files remain stored on the host player's platform and cannot be migrated back and forth between console and PC.

Large Multiplayer Saves, Daisy Chaining, and Vehicle Fixes in Build 517554

Beyond cross-platform play, Patch v1.2.5.0 delivers a substantial list of stability and quality-of-life fixes aimed at late-game factories. Most notably, Coffee Stain implemented fixes for issues that prevented players from joining large saves in multiplayer, resolved two UObject limit crashes triggered by repeatedly opening the Blueprint Designer or Vehicle Inventory UI, and squashed a dedicated server crash tied to drone pathfinding (AFGDroneVehicle::GeneratePathToDestination()).

Several practical building and logistics upgrades also arrive just as the November 2026 video game release calendar heats up:

  • Power Daisy Chaining: builders can now daisy-chain both the Radar Tower and the Priority Power Switch.
  • 45-Degree Support Rotation Restored: Stackable Supports for Conveyors, Pipelines, and Hypertubes can once again be rotated in 45-degree increments on foundations.
  • Smarter Vehicle Autopilot: automated vehicles have received pathing logic improvements to stop trucks from getting stuck inside Truck Stations, teleporting across intersecting paths, or trailing sluggishly behind other vehicles.
  • AMD GPU and Dismantle Crate Fixes: flashing screen artifacts on certain AMD graphics cards when using Frame Generation or Motion Blur have been resolved, alongside a bug where dismantled items improperly merged into crates more than 100 meters away.

My Take

After spending hundreds of hours obsessing over load balancers on PC, seeing Satisfactory finally open the gates between Steam, Epic, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S is huge for bringing console friends into the fold. Still, let's be honest about the elephant in the room: keeping dedicated servers locked out of crossplay is a real bummer for long-term co-op groups. When four players are pouring dozens of hours into a nuclear-powered gigafactory, relying on a single host to stay online so the rest of the crew can play feels limiting compared to a 24/7 PC server. Even so, between the fixes for massive multiplayer saves, the return of 45-degree stackable support rotation, and truck stations that no longer eat automated convoys, Patch 1.2.5.0 is a rock-solid update and the best excuse yet to start a fresh factory floor with your console friends.
