TANUKI: Pon's Summer Launches November 10, 2026 on Consoles, PC, and Day One on Xbox Game Pass

Kyoto-based developer Denkiworks and publisher Critical Reflex have officially locked in the launch calendar: TANUKI: Pon's Summer will release on November 10, 2026 across PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. Even better for subscribers, the vibrant BMX postal adventure is launching Day One on Xbox Game Pass.
Following its standout appearance during the October 2026 Nintendo Indie World Showcase, Denkiworks' sun-soaked life-sim and trick-riding hybrid is almost ready to roll out. With only one month left before the Great Tanuki Festival begins and the local shrine lying in disrepair, players step into the paws of Pon, a well-meaning, slightly lazy part-time mail carrier with a serious flair for showing off on two wheels.
Acrobatic BMX Mail Runs Across Four Japanese Towns
The core gameplay loop revolves around a full one-month summer calendar where every delivery counts. Before hitting the pavement, players have to carefully arrange awkwardly shaped boxes and letters inside Pon's bike basket, planning optimal routes through bustling neighborhoods so the locals aren't left waiting.

Getting from point A to point B is where the arcade adrenaline kicks in. Pon's nimble BMX isn't just built for hauling cardboard: players can launch off wooden ramps, grind along street rails, and string together airborne combos across rooftops and mountain trails. Over 100 dedicated BMX challenges await across four distinct Japanese cities modeled after the developers' real-life homes in Kyoto, Aomori, Sapporo, and the hot-spring resort town of Beppu.
Summer Minigames, Shrine Restoration, and Indie Crossover Hats
Dropping off parcels is only half the job when preparing for the end-of-summer Matsuri. As Pon becomes a familiar face along his delivery routes, the island's eccentric residents start sending invitations to a packed schedule of seasonal activities:
- Sports and Culinary Side Jobs: Step up to the sushi counter, swing for the fences in local baseball games, or enter the sumo ring.
- Classic Japanese Summer Pastimes: Sing your heart out at karaoke, catch rare bugs in the woods, and cast a line at neighborhood fishing spots.
- Custom Shrine Building: Every completed route and minigame rewards funds and decorations to rebuild, upgrade, and customize the Great Tanuki Shrine before festival night arrives.
- Crossover Wardrobe: Pon can unlock and wear cosmetic hats inspired by fan-favorite indie hits including Hollow Knight: Silksong, PEAK, and Shovel Knight.

My Perspective
It only takes thirty seconds watching Pon whip his BMX across a sunlit Kyoto rooftop to see why Denkiworks' debut feels so refreshing. On one hand, it channels the pure arcade joy of classics like Jet Set Radio and Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX, daring you to turn every staircase and power line into a trick combo while balancing a stack of fragile parcels. On the other hand, its warm slice-of-life rhythm captures the nostalgic magic of a Studio Ghibli summer and the neighborly charm of Animal Crossing. Being able to go from a sumo match to delivering mail in a Silksong crossover hat before decorating a traditional shrine makes this the ultimate comfort game for chilly November evenings. With a Day One drop on Xbox Game Pass and a native Switch 2 version right out of the gate, my handlebars are officially booked for November 10.
