1. MARVEL Cosmic Invasion: Tag-Team Pixel Art Action From Tribute Games
Following their acclaimed work on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge, developer Tribute Games and publisher Dotemu bring their signature arcade polish to the Marvel universe. In MARVEL Cosmic Invasion, Annihilus unleashes the deadly Annihilation Wave across the cosmos, taking players from the streets of New York City all the way into the depths of the Negative Zone.
Its standout feature is the Cosmic Swap tag-team mechanic: players pick two heroes per stage from a 15-character base roster (including Spider-Man, Wolverine, Captain America, Iron Man, Storm, Black Panther, Venom, Nova, and Silver Surfer) and switch between them mid-combo to chain aerial juggles and team specials. With Doctor Doom and Invisible Woman joining the roster in the upcoming DLC, the free PS5 and PS4 demo is the ideal way to test its combat flow firsthand.

2. Outbound: Build a Self-Sustaining Electric Camper Van
If you prefer a relaxed pace, Outbound delivers a cozy open-world exploration and crafting experience set in a utopian near-future. Developed by Square Glade Games and published by Silver Lining Interactive, the game starts you off with an empty electric camper van that you gradually transform into a custom mobile home.
By harnessing solar panels, micro wind turbines, and hydropower alongside modular workstations and indoor gardens, you can live completely off the grid while road-tripping across vibrant biomes. The PS5 demo gives players a hands-on taste of its modular building tools ahead of solo or four-player co-op sessions.

3. NITRO GEN OMEGA: Turn-Based Mech Battles Meets Shonen Anime
Created by Italian studio DESTINYbit, NITRO GEN OMEGA is a sandbox tactical RPG billed as a high-energy "spaghetti anime" adventure. Set in a post-apocalyptic wasteland overrun by rogue AI and scavenging war machines, you command a four-person mercenary crew living aboard a customizable airship.
Between contracts, you manage crew morale through cooking, sparring, and scavenging new mech parts. In battle, each crew member mans a specific subsystem inside your giant mech across a timeline-driven planning phase, resulting in cinematic anime combat sequences where pilot injuries, panic, and heroic resolve can turn the tide of a fight.

4. Tides of Tomorrow: Asynchronous Oceanic Adventure From the Creators of Road 96
Developed by French studio DigixArt (Road 96) and published by THQ Nordic, Tides of Tomorrow takes players to Elynd, a flooded oceanic planet threatened by a deadly plastification disease. The game revolves around its innovative Online Story-Link system, blending single-player narrative choices with asynchronous community consequences.
At the start of your run, you select another player to follow, whether a friend, a favorite streamer, or a random traveler. You witness echoes of their actions, deal with NPCs who remember whether that predecessor helped or robbed them, and leave behind altered resources and story paths for whoever follows in your wake.

5. SWAT Commander: High-Stakes Tactical Police Operations
Rounding out the five free downloads is SWAT Commander (also frequently listed as Swat Commander Simulator), a first-person tactical police simulation from Red Mountain Games and Ritual Interactive. Every deployment demands careful reconnaissance, breaching gear selection, and room-by-room coordination rather than run-and-gun reflexes.
Whether issuing commands to a responsive AI squad in solo play or teaming up in online co-op lobbies, suspect behavior and hostage placements shift dynamically on each run. Sampling it on PS5 lets tactical shooter fans evaluate its command interface and pacing firsthand.
