1.47 Rating in His FUT Esports Debut: Why G2 Benching SunPayus Still Shocks Coach coolio at PGL Masters Bucharest 2026

Sidelined by G2 Esports back in June before officially parting ways with the organization at the end of September, Álvaro "SunPayus" García needed just two maps in Romania to remind the international circuit why he remains a premier tier-one sniper. Making his LAN debut under the FUT Esports banner on Saturday, October 24 in the opening round of the $1.25 million PGL Masters Bucharest 2026, the 27-year-old Spaniard dismantled TYLOO in a clean 2-0 sweep with a server-high 1.47 rating, validating the vision of head coach András "coolio" Fercsák.
A Statement 2-0 Sweep Over TYLOO Anchored by a 34-18 K-D Masterclass
Signed by the Turkish organization on October 1, 2026 to replace Nikita "cmtry" Samolotov on the primary AWP, SunPayus arrived in Bucharest eager to reset his Counter-Strike 2 campaign after months away from official stage play. Yet the Swiss Round 1 opener against Chinese contenders TYLOO started on shaky ground on Nuke, where FUT Esports quickly fell into an early 1-6 hole.
Rather than letting the map spiral out of reach, the Spanish veteran steadied the server. Locking down key rotations and punishing TYLOO's mid-round executes, SunPayus spearheaded a clinical comeback to close out Nuke 13-9 before powering a dominant second half on Ancient to seal the series 13-6. Across both maps, the former ENCE and G2 marksman posted 34 kills against just 18 deaths (+16 K-D diff) alongside a 1.47 rating.
Why Coach András "coolio" Fercsák Was Stunned by G2 Esports' Summer Roster Move
Following the opening victory in Bucharest, FUT Esports head coach András "coolio" Fercsák did not hide his disbelief that a sniper of SunPayus's pedigree had even become available on the autumn transfer market. After spending 14 months with G2 Esports following his July 2025 arrival, SunPayus was moved to the inactive roster after the IEM Cologne Major 2026 in June so G2 could bring in Ukrainian AWPer Artem "r1nkle" Moroz.
For the 35-year-old Hungarian tactician, G2's decision to part ways with a proven Championship-caliber voice turned into a massive windfall for FUT Esports: "I was shocked G2 benched SunPayus, because I feel like he's still such a good player," coolio stated in Bucharest. Beyond raw AWP opening picks, the coach emphasized how SunPayus's vocal composure and mid-round control immediately elevate the floor of a young lineup.

Inside FUT Esports' Revamped CS2 Lineup at PGL Masters Bucharest 2026
Paired with Kosovar in-game leader Aulon "Krabeni" Fazlija and an explosive core of young riflers, SunPayus provides the secondary calling and late-round discipline that emerging rosters often lack against hardened LAN opposition. With top-tier autumn events stacking up across the circuit, including the upcoming IEM Beijing 2026 CS2 group stage, FUT Esports now fields a balanced five capable of trading blows with established contenders.

My Take
When G2 Esports decided to bench SunPayus after the Cologne Major to gamble on r1nkle's hyper-aggressive style, I felt the move was unduly harsh on the Spaniard. We are talking about a sniper who proved with both ENCE and G2 that he can contend for trophies while keeping a team's communication calm under heavy pressure. For an ambitious squad like FUT Esports, landing a tier-one AWPer of his caliber who immediately drops a 1.47 rating in his first LAN series after four months on the sidelines is easily one of the smartest roster pickups of the autumn CS2 season.
