Eight Years After Launch, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Reclaims #1 on the Switch eShop Ahead of Castlevania and Final Fantasy Resonance
Nearly eight years after its original December 2018 debut, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has pulled off another impressive comeback on Nintendo's digital storefront. For the week of October 24, 2026, Masahiro Sakurai's crossover platform fighter jumped from fourth to first place on the overall Nintendo Switch eShop charts, unseating last week's leader Castlevania: Belmont's Curse while Square Enix's new HD-2D RPG Final Fantasy Resonance landed two separate editions inside the top ten.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Reclaims #1 as Final Fantasy Resonance Lands Two Top 10 Spots
After debuting in first and second place last week, Castlevania: Belmont's Curse slipped one spot to #2 on the all-games chart (while its Midnight Edition dropped from #2 to #19). However, the gothic action title successfully defended its #1 crown on the Download-Only chart for a second consecutive week.
The biggest newcomer story of the week belongs to Final Fantasy Resonance. Following its initial appearance at #12 last week driven by early pre-loads, the newly launched HD-2D RPG secured two spots in the overall top ten: the standard edition debuted at #5, while the Digital Deluxe Edition climbed four places to #8.
Elsewhere in the top tier, Nintendo's evergreen multiplayer staples continued gaining momentum ahead of the holiday season. Minecraft held firm in third place ahead of Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream (#4, up one spot), while Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (#6) and Super Mario Party Jamboree (#7) both rose two positions, and Super Mario Bros. Wonder climbed from #18 to #16.
