GTA 6 Parody Trailer, 4-Player Online Co-Op, and 4K for $29.99: Shrek 2 Remastered Launches November 10

Shrek 2 Remastered Aspyr Media PS5 Xbox Series Switch 2 PC

While nearly every publisher in the industry has cleared out of November to avoid Rockstar's shadow, Aspyr Media is leaning straight into the storm. Officially unveiled during the ID@Xbox Fall 2026 Showcase, Shrek 2 Remastered brings back the beloved 2004 action-adventure brawler on November 10, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.

A Reveal Trailer That Parodies GTA 6 Nine Days Before the Fall Showdown

Instead of tiptoeing around the biggest launch window of the decade, Aspyr built its entire reveal around it. The announcement trailer opens with a sun-drenched, neon-soaked parody of Leonida and Vice City, complete with palm trees at dusk, retro 1980s synth beats, and split-panel comic artwork modeled after Rockstar's signature box art.

By planting its flag on November 10, 2026, just nine days ahead of the window hyped by Rockstar's spectacular GTA 6 launch trailer, the swamp's favorite ogre embraces the same pop-culture satire that defined the original 2004 animated film.

4-Player Online Co-Op, 4K Overhaul, and the Return of the Luxoflux Classic

For players who grew up with the sixth-generation console era, the biggest relief is what sits under the hood: this remaster is built upon the acclaimed 2004 console version originally developed by Luxoflux for PlayStation 2, Xbox, and GameCube, rather than the separate PC tie-in from that era.

Aspyr Media has expanded the classic squad-based brawler with modern technical upgrades and new quality-of-life features:

  • 4-Player Local, Online, and Mixed Co-Op: Alongside the original four-player couch co-op, players can now team up through full online multiplayer or hybrid local-and-online lobbies.
  • Playable Roster with Instant Character Swapping: Take control of Shrek, Princess Fiona, Donkey, Puss in Boots, Gingy, and more, switching heroes on the fly to tackle boss fights, Hero Time sequences, and environmental puzzles.
  • Up to 4K Resolution and Redesigned UI: Both gameplay and cutscenes have been rebuilt with higher-resolution textures, updated lighting, and a modernized user interface.
  • New Photo Mode and Classic Cheat Mode: A dedicated Photo Mode joins an official in-game Cheat Menu that lets players toggle classic-style modifiers and unlockables.

Price, Pre-Order Discount, and Target Platforms

Priced at $29.99 (with a 10% pre-order discount bringing early digital purchases down to $26.99 on participating storefronts), Shrek 2 Remastered launches worldwide on November 10, 2026 across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, Steam, and the Epic Games Store.

My Take

I have a huge soft spot for that golden mid-2000s era when licensed movie games on PS2 and GameCube were unapologetically fun four-player couch brawlers. Luxoflux's Shrek 2 was the crown jewel of those living-room sessions, where everyone fought over who got to play Puss in Boots or Donkey. Giving that exact version native 4K visuals, online co-op, and a fearless GTA 6 parody trailer right in the middle of November is the kind of playful confidence this fall lineup needed.
