Worlds 2026 Swiss Stage Round 1 Draw: G2 Faces Dplus KIA, Karmine Corp Draws Anyone’s Legend, and Two LCK vs. LPL Clashes Set

There was barely a moment to catch a breath inside the Riot Games Arena in Los Angeles on Sunday night. Minutes after Karmine Corp swept MVK Esports 3-0 to secure the final ticket out of the Play-In Stage, former World Championship finalist Gabriël “Bwipo” Rau joined Joshua “Jatt” Leesman on stage to conduct the official League of Legends Worlds 2026 Swiss Stage Round 1 draw. From a European baptism of fire against Asian powerhouses to two immediate LCK versus LPL heavyweight collisions, the opening best-of-one (Bo1) slate kicking off on Friday, October 23, 2026 at the Credit Union of Texas Event Center in Allen, Texas, leaves zero room for a slow start.
Karmine Corp Draws Anyone’s Legend and G2 Faces Dplus KIA: A Brutal Opening Test for the LEC
Having survived a grueling five-game thriller against Cloud9 (3-2) on October 15 before dismantling MVK Esports (3-0) in Sunday’s qualification series, Karmine Corp (LEC #3) entered the Swiss Stage draw in Pool 4. Under tournament rules pairing Pool 1 against Pool 4 while prohibiting same-region matchups in Round 1, head coach Bok “Reapered” Han-gyu’s roster was guaranteed a titan. They drew China’s number one seed, Anyone’s Legend (LPL #1), with their clash scheduled for Friday, October 23 at 12:00 PM CDT (1:00 PM EDT / 7:00 PM CEST).
For top laner Kim “Canna” Chang-dong, jungler Martin “Yike” Sundelin, mid laner Kang “kyeahoo” Ye-hoo, French rookie sensation Caliste “Caliste” Henry-Hennebert, and support Alan “Busio” Cwalina, the matchup represents an immediate trial against an Anyone’s Legend lineup anchored by Breathe, veteran Korean jungler Tarzan, Shanks, Hope, and Kael. How Yike navigates early pathing against Tarzan and how Caliste and Busio trade in the bottom lane against Hope and Kael will set the tone for Karmine Corp’s main-stage debut.

Europe’s top seed fared no better in the draw bowls. Crowned regional champions at the LEC 2026 Finals at Palais Nikaia in Nice, G2 Esports (LEC #1) entered Pool 1 hoping for a favorable opening matchup for BrokenBlade, SkewMond, Rasmus “Caps” Winther, Steven “Hans Sama” Liv, and Labrov. Instead, Bwipo pulled the most dangerous landmine lurking in Pool 4: Dplus KIA (LCK #4). Led by veteran mid-lane icon Heo “ShowMaker” Su alongside rising talents Siwoo, Lucid, Smash, and Career, Dplus KIA will face G2 Esports on October 23 at 1:00 PM CDT (2:00 PM EDT / 8:00 PM CEST) in another chapter of the storied international rivalry between Caps and ShowMaker.
Completing the European trio, Movistar KOI (LEC #2, Pool 3) was drawn against LPL runner-up Bilibili Gaming (LPL #2, Pool 2), meaning all three LEC squads will face either Chinese or Korean opposition on Day 1.
Gen.G vs. Invictus Gaming and HLE vs. Top Esports: Two LCK vs. LPL Blockbusters
Beyond the Western storylines, the Round 1 draw delivered two immediate clashes between South Korea’s LCK and China’s LPL. Tournament favorite Gen.G (LCK #1), led by mid-lane superstar Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hun, will open the Swiss Stage against Invictus Gaming (LPL #4) in a heavyweight battle between two organizations with World Championship pedigree.
In the Pool 2 versus Pool 3 bracket, reigning MSI champion Hanwha Life Esports (LCK #2) was paired against Top Esports (LPL #3), guaranteeing that at least one elite title contender will drop into the 0-1 pool after the opening day. Meanwhile, Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok and T1 (LCK #3), whose high-pressure domestic campaign we covered during the LCK 2026 Finals, received a more straightforward Round 1 assignment against Brazilian champion LOS (CBLOL #1).
Rounding out the opening slate, North America’s two LCS seeds will go head-to-head against the Asia-Pacific LCP representatives: Team Liquid Alienware (LCS #1) takes on CTBC Flying Oyster (LCP #2), while Team Secret Whales (LCP #1) faces LYON (LCS #2).

My Perspective: A Brutal Yet Thrilling Baptism of Fire for the LEC
I have to admit that watching Bwipo pull Anyone’s Legend for Karmine Corp, Dplus KIA for G2 Esports, and Bilibili Gaming for Movistar KOI felt like a cruel twist of fate for European fans. Not a single LEC representative caught a breather on the opening day in Texas.
Yet in my view, Round 1 is actually the best possible time to draw an Eastern juggernaut. In a single best-of-one game, a creative draft preparation and stage momentum can erase seeding gaps in twenty-five minutes. Karmine Corp arrives in Texas warmed up from two high-stakes Play-In series on the Worlds patch, whereas Anyone’s Legend will be playing their very first stage game of the tournament. And for G2 Esports, facing ShowMaker and Dplus KIA right out of the gate gives Caps and Hans Sama the ultimate stage to prove that Europe’s top seed belongs in the title conversation.
