An Open Invitation to Pitch GTA 6's Most Absurd Quests
Speaking on the latest episode of the Kiwi Talkz podcast hosted by Reece Reilly and streamed exclusively via the Insider Gaming app, former Rockstar Games designer Jérémy Hartvick pulled back the curtain on the creative brainstorming sessions that shaped early development.
According to Hartvick, during the phase when the main storyline was still being woven, developers were actively encouraged to submit their own custom quest ideas. It was an open-door policy where designers could pitch what they personally wanted to experience in the next Grand Theft Auto.
That was when Hartvick formally pitched a mission revolving around an exotic pet, specifically a private Bengal tiger or a captive jaguar, mirroring Florida's notorious real-world subculture of eccentric drug lords, private menageries, and Tiger King-style roadside attractions.

Hartvick noted that pitching during this phase was far more fluid because the narrative architecture had not yet been locked in. The editorial leads reviewed every pitch to determine whether it fit the core story arc, worked best as an optional side mission, or had to be discarded entirely.
The concept seamlessly aligns with what we already know about over 170 animal species planned for GTA 6. Wildlife in Leonida is set to become an active, interactive pillar of the world rather than mere background scenery.
Whether the pet tiger survived the cutting room floor and made it into the retail build remains a closely guarded secret. But if Jason or Lucia stumble upon a caged big cat in a Vice City mansion come launch day, we already know who to thank.
