After Leaving NRG, Champions 2025 MVP brawk Officially Joins Sentinels Alongside OXY and johnqt
The offseason rebuild in Los Angeles is officially complete. Just hours after confirming his departure from NRG, Brock "brawk" Somerhalder has been unveiled by Sentinels as the final piece of their starting Valorant lineup for the 2027 VCT Americas season. By securing the reigning Valorant Champions 2025 winner and tournament MVP, the North American powerhouse has made one of the most decisive moves of the rostermania window.
In their official reveal video, Sentinels summed up the acquisition with a straightforward message: "Bringing out the big guns. World Champ brawk is officially a Sentinel." Following a turbulent 2026 campaign that prompted management to overhaul the lineup, the red-and-black organization now adds a proven championship Initiator to anchor its tactical setups.

From NRG Rookie to Paris World Champion MVP: brawk's Meteoric Rise
Stepping into tier-one competition with NRG at the start of 2025 as a rookie, Brock Somerhalder needed less than a year to establish himself as one of the premier Initiators in the world. Renowned for his pinpoint Sova recon utility and his relentless Odin wallbang pressure in high-stakes rounds, the American star helped spearhead NRG's run to the world title at Valorant Champions 2025 in Paris.
Crowned tournament MVP on Riot Games' biggest stage, brawk brings battle-tested composure and elite mid-round calling to his new squad. While fans of the organization's past era recently watched TenZ come out of retirement to join T1 alongside Sacy and crashies, Sentinels are firmly looking ahead with a revamped core built to contend for domestic and international trophies.
OXY and brawk Join johnqt: Sentinels' Full 2027 VCT Americas Lineup
The signing of brawk follows closely on the heels of another blockbuster addition: explosive former Cloud9 Duelist Francis "OXY" Hoang. To clear room for this new one-two punch and restructure their agent pool after parting ways with players such as JonahP and Jerrwin, Sentinels have locked in a balanced five-man unit around veteran In-Game Leader Mohamed Amine "johnqt" Ouarid:
- Mohamed Amine "johnqt" Ouarid: In-Game Leader / Sentinel
- Francis "OXY" Hoang: Duelist (ex-Cloud9)
- Brock "brawk" Somerhalder: Initiator (ex-NRG, Champions 2025 MVP)
- Yassin "reduxx" Aboulalazm: Flex / Controller
- Gabriel "cortezia" Araujo Lobo Cortez: Sentinel / Controller
- Coaching Staff: Marthinus Jacobus "Ewok" Van Der Walt (Head Coach) and Luke "GUNTER" Clives (Assistant Coach)
In an Americas league that has grown even more cutthroat this offseason, highlighted by G2 Esports signing Korean prodigy HYUNMIN to replace jawgemo, pairing OXY's relentless entry fragging with brawk's info-gathering utility gives Sentinels an immediate ceiling upgrade heading into the 2027 Kickoff tournament. At the highest level of tactical shooters, split-second micro-adjustments rely on ultra-lightweight wireless peripherals trusted on the VCT stage.
My Take
This is the exact signing Sentinels needed to turn an exciting rebuild into a legitimate championship contender. Bringing in OXY gave them one of the most mechanically gifted Duelists in North America, but raw aggression only goes so far without tier-one utility support to set the table. In brawk, johnqt gets the Valorant Champions 2025 MVP,an Initiator whose Sova darts, Odin suppression, and late-round discipline dismantled the best teams on the planet in Paris. If reduxx and cortezia gel quickly with this veteran trio, Sentinels have every tool required to reclaim the top spot in VCT Americas.
