Hyperspace Neptunia: Unlimited Launches in 2027 for Switch 2, PS5, and PC With Full Game on Card

Eleven years after Megadimension Neptunia VII, the satirical JRPG franchise that parodies the console wars is finally getting its next true mainline sequel in the West. On November 3, 2026, publisher Idea Factory International officially announced that Hyperspace Neptunia: Unlimited, the fifth canonical entry developed by Compile Heart, will launch across North America and Europe in 2027 for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC (Steam).
Physical Editions Confirmed With Full Game on the Switch 2 Cartridge
Originally released in Japan in late August 2026 as Chou Shin Jikuu Game Neptune: Unlimited, the action-RPG will arrive in the West featuring dual English and Japanese audio tracks alongside English subtitles on consoles (with Japanese, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese text options also included on Steam). Following the publisher's recent confirmation of Dokapon Kingdom: Connect 2 for Nintendo Switch 2 and PC in 2027, physical collectors are getting special treatment here as well.
Both Standard and Limited Edition physical print runs are locked in for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch 2 (while the original Nintendo Switch and PC versions will be digital-only). Most importantly for hardware purists, Idea Factory International confirmed that the Nintendo Switch 2 physical edition includes the full game directly on the cartridge rather than relying on a download-only Game-Key Card.

Apocalyptic Time Loops and 11 Goddesses Uniting Against Doomsday
Narratively, the fifth mainline chapter opens on a much darker note than usual for Gamindustri. When a catastrophic first asteroid strikes the planet and reduces reality to ashes, Planeptune's CPU Goddess Neptune wakes up alone inside a desolate white void with mysterious numbers etched onto her cheek.

Guided by an unknown voice that grants her a "Retry" ability, Neptune triggers a time loop spanning countless endings and beginnings in a bid to prevent ultimate Doomsday. Across her jumps through spacetime, a total of 11 Goddesses join the fight. Alongside returning CPU icons Neptune (Purple Heart), Noire (Black Heart), Blanc (White Heart), and Vert (Green Heart), the story introduces a new generation of goddesses inspired by modern gaming hardware, including Rouge (Red Heart), Ciel (Blue Heart), and the twin representatives Anna and Lot (Eclipse Heart).
Seamless Flight Exploration and Airborne Goddess Combat
To match its generational leap, Compile Heart has overhauled both field traversal and real-time action mechanics. For the first time in franchise history, the Goddesses can take to the skies at will for full three-dimensional exploration:
- Full Flight Exploration: Multi-tiered dungeons allow players to transition seamlessly from running on the ground to soaring through the sky, opening up rooftops, upper platforms, waterways, and hidden crevices.
- Aerial Action Combat: Party members can transform into their Goddess Forms in mid-air to chain dive attacks, reworked aerial combos, and dynamic EXE Drive finishers against massive world bosses.
- Deep Customization and Disc Make: Players can freely tweak outfit color palettes, adjust accessory placement, upgrade Processor Unit gear scavenged in dungeons, and craft custom ability discs using the returning Disc Make system.
While we await an exact launch window on the 2027 game release calendar, wishlists for both standard and collector editions are now live on the publisher's official portal.
My Perspective
I won't hide my relief: after eleven years of varied spin-offs since Megadimension Neptunia VII, it felt long overdue for Compile Heart to finally deliver a proper mainline sequel. With the arrival of the Nintendo Switch 2 and a decade of dramatic shifts across the console landscape, Gamindustri has plenty of fresh industry material to parody through this new generation of CPU Goddesses.
What stands out even more to me is Idea Factory International's commitment to putting the complete game on the Nintendo Switch 2 cartridge. At a time when far too many third-party publishers cut corners with empty Game-Key Cards that force massive downloads, shipping a full plug-and-play physical cartridge is a genuine win for console collectors and game preservation.
