Sidelined With Chickenpox while His Coach Played in Bucharest: Jee Returns to TYLOO's Starting Lineup Against MOUZ at IEM Beijing 2026

Chinese organization TYLOO has officially reinstated star AWPer Dongkai "Jee" Ji into its starting Counter-Strike 2 lineup just in time for Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) Beijing 2026. Forced into emergency medical isolation in late October after contracting chickenpox mid-tournament in Europe, the 21-year-old sniper has received full medical clearance to reclaim the big green rifle in front of his home crowd at the Bloomage Biotech Biohyalux ECM Arena from November 2 to 8, 2026.

Emergency Quarantine in Romania and Coach zhokiNg's Stand-In Run

The medical setback struck the Chinese camp at the worst possible moment last week during PGL Masters Bucharest 2026. Halfway through the Romanian Swiss stage, Dongkai "Jee" Ji was diagnosed with chickenpox and immediately placed into strict quarantine for treatment. Left without their primary sniper and unable to fly in a substitute on short notice, TYLOO had no choice but to field 34-year-old head coach WeiJie "zhokiNg" Zhong on the server.

In total, Jee missed four official series across the remainder of the Bucharest event and an online stint in HyperX Retake Season 13. In Romania, zhokiNg's emergency stand-in duty initially produced an improbable miracle in the Round 3 elimination match against South American squad 9z Team: despite the veteran coach posting a modest 0.63 rating, TYLOO's core four shook off an opening map loss on Inferno to dominate Nuke (13-5) and Mirage (13-7) for a 2-1 survival victory. Reality caught up the very next day during PGL Masters Bucharest 2026 Round 4 as MOUZ and FURIA surged, with FalleN's Brazilian roster sweeping a shorthanded TYLOO 2-0 (where zhokiNg recorded a 0.36 rating) to end their campaign at 1-3.

Reinstated just in Time to Challenge MOUZ on Home Soil

Having Jee back at 100 percent completely transforms TYLOO's outlook for their biggest home tournament of the season. Both the emotional sparkplug and tactical centerpiece of the squad, the 21-year-old AWPer spearheaded TYLOO's successful run through the Asian Closed Qualifier, highlighted by a 1.14 rating in the decisive series against Kaleido. His return restores TYLOO's aggressive opening picks with the AWP while allowing WeiJie "zhokiNg" Zhong to step back behind the players and call tactical timeouts where he belongs.

There will be zero warm-up grace period for the Chinese roster once they step onto the stage. Drawn into a stacked Group B at the $1.25 million IEM Beijing 2026, TYLOO opens its campaign directly against European powerhouse MOUZ, fresh off a top-three finish in Bucharest. In a double-elimination GSL bracket featuring best-of-three series alongside G2 Esports, PARIVISION, Aurora Gaming, Team Liquid, BetBoom Team, and 9z Team, only three squads will survive to reach the playoffs from November 6 to 8.

My Take

Playing your biggest home arena event of the year with a 34-year-old coach forced to fill in for your star AWPer would have been a gut-wrenching blow for Chinese Counter-Strike. Full credit goes to zhokiNg for pulling off a miracle elimination win against 9z in Bucharest, but tier-one Counter-Strike 2 does not forgive missing a primary sniper against elite opposition. Getting Jee back on the server immediately restores TYLOO's trademark explosiveness, pairing his fearless AWP peaks with JamYoung's elite rifling firepower. Drawing a well-oiled machine like MOUZ in Round 1 is still a massive mountain to climb, yet backed by a roaring Beijing crowd and fueled by ten days of pent-up frustration in a quarantine room, TYLOO now has the teeth to make Group B very uncomfortable.
