Aeos Gems Halted Ahead of March 23, 2027 Shutdown: How to Save Your Collection Before Pokémon UNITE Ends Service

Pokémon UNITE end of service announcement for March 23 2027 on Nintendo Switch and mobile

After nearly six years of 5v5 arena battles on Aeos Island, The Pokémon Company and developer TiMi Studio Group have officially announced that Pokémon UNITE will end service on Tuesday, March 23, 2027, at 00:00 UTC. The shutdown applies simultaneously to the Nintendo Switch version (which first launched on July 21, 2021) and the iOS and Android mobile versions (released in September 2021).

Immediate Suspension of Aeos Gems and UNITE Club Memberships

The wind-down process has already started in the in-game shop. Effective Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at 05:00 UTC, sales of paid Aeos Gems have been permanently halted across all platforms. Trainers who still hold Aeos Gems in their account balance can continue spending them until the servers go offline on March 23, 2027.

Paid monthly UNITE Club memberships are also ending today. New membership purchases and automatic monthly renewals have been suspended as of October 27 at 05:00 UTC, though currently active subscribers will continue to receive their membership perks until their existing billing cycle expires.

November 12 Update: Unite Coin Exchange and Offline Library Mode

To thank the community before the servers close, a final content update will launch on Thursday, November 12, 2026, at 04:00 UTC. This patch introduces a farewell event built around the Unite Coin Exchange. Through login bonuses and special missions tied to victories in ranked matches and other battle modes, players will earn special Unite Coins that can be traded for previously released Unite licenses, Holowear, Trainer fashion items, and Unite snapshot decorations.

Crucially, the November 12 update will also add an offline Library feature designed to preserve player accounts after the shutdown. Through the Library menu, Trainers will still be able to view their unlocked Unite licenses, Holowear, Boost Emblems, fashion items, and tournament records, hide the UI to take commemorative screenshots, and even test their Pokémon and Holowear inside the Practice Area.

However, there is one strict deadline players cannot afford to miss: to access the Library feature after servers close, you must log in and complete the required Library data download before Tuesday, March 23, 2027, at 00:00 UTC. Anyone who fails to download the data prior to the shutdown will be locked out permanently. Additionally, Library data is stored locally and cannot be transferred to a new Switch or mobile device once live service ends.

Aeos Crown 2027 Tokyo Finale and the Franchise's Next Chapter

Today's announcement also explains why the MOBA was removed from the 2027 Pokémon World Championships lineup back in July. Instead, the competitive circuit will conclude with a standalone international finale, the Pokémon UNITE Aeos Crown 2027 Tokyo tournament. Online regional qualifiers kick off on Saturday, December 5, 2026, culminating in an offline 32-team championship in Tokyo in late March 2027,just days before the servers shut down for good.

The closure comes as The Pokémon Company recalibrates its live-service and console roadmap, right after Pokémon TCG Pocket shifted to a slower six-week expansion schedule for Series C and while Game Freak's new water simulation engine prepares the ground for Pokémon Winds and Waves on Switch 2.

My Perspective

Watching Pokémon UNITE bow out after nearly six years is bittersweet, even if the writing had been on the wall since the game was pulled from the 2027 World Championships back in July. While aggressive gacha-style Holowear pricing and balance controversies wore down parts of the competitive community over the past two years, the core 10-minute MOBA formula remained one of the most accessible team games on Nintendo Switch. What I genuinely appreciate here is the offline Library and Practice Area mode: in an era where live-service shutdowns usually turn years of unlocked cosmetics into digital dust, letting players keep their roster and hop into the Practice Area offline is a preservation-friendly sendoff more studios should copy.
